I thought this was standard on the B8 A4? Anyone know otherwise?

I haven't seen the hidden menu of MMI 3G in work yet - so I don't know which menu(s) you should go into.

The best for you is to just 'play around' in the menus

    [07 - Control Head]

Hi. Does anyone know if the VAGCOM can change how the scroll in the multi-function steering wheel works? e.g. at the moment to scroll through songs on MP3 or ipod, you scroll down and then click the wheel to select the song. I would like the song to be automatically selected the moment you scroll down to it.

    Thanks!

not sure if theres differences between the A/C system with the premium, premium +, and prestige but on my prestige you can turn recirculate automatically on or off.

look for A/C settings in MMI under car or setup then turn it on.

The windows should keep moving until they're even fully up or fully down. Of course if you stop pressing the button they're stop part way.

On my car, this setting is available in the MMI by default (no hidden menus or anything), but I'm not sure if it actually works. Are you saying that you have to also manually enable it via VAG-COM to make this feature operable?

    Re: Cool VAG-COM codes

I called my nearest Audi dealer and was told that they aren't allowed to to make any modifications. (which conflicts with what some people have said on this message board but I didn't argue) So now I want to call around to mechanics in the area to see if any of them could do the VAG-COM mods. What is the best way to ask that will make sense to a mechanic? I had some difficulty explaining what I wanted to do to even the Audi dealer so it seems like it might be a hard thing to explain.

Dude, did you try looking here? vagcomlocator.com

Or just buy a VAG-COM for $350 to program everything yourself.

BMWBig6: I'm not a verty trusting or mechanically literate person. The list on vagcomlocator.com are random people so if I get one of them to do it I have no recourse if they mess it up, and if I buy one myself to try to do it a) I'd have to spend a long time trying to figure out how to do it and b) I could totally mess it up. =0) but thanks for the suggestions.

I'll be posting up a detailed step-by-step in a few days using the "fully functional" $85 Vag-Com I bought. Just waiting on confirmation regarding which pictures I should/shouldn't post up. It's definitely confusing at first but it's actually not that hard at all. Give me a few days.

According to the "Infotainment/MMI - Operating Manual", the Subwoofer can't be adjusted if the vehicle is equipped with B&O sound system.

    Re: Cool VAG-COM codes

    Hello everyone

This is my first post on this Forum; I ended up here trying to find a solution to my problem (see below). I'm 29, my name is Alessandro and I live in Panama (Rep. of Panama).

I have a 3.0 Tdi Q5 and where I live daytime running lights (DRL) are not required by law. As a result, on the MMI there is no option to turn this function on; It looks as if there is a setting on the VAG-COM that's making Daytime Running Lights not selectable via MMI.

After explaining this issue to my dealer, I was told that this issue could be resolved playing around with the VAG-COM settings, but the technician does not know how . I was told that if I provide them with the codes (or explain how to do it), they can try resolving the problem for me.

The funny part is that they cannot ask Audi by them selves, because this request must be backed up by a letter from the Government stating that local laws have been changed (???)...

In other words, does anyone know how I can, though the VAG-COM, activate an option on the VAG-COM so that DRL option may come back on the MMI Menu?

    Thanks,
    Alessandro

P.S.: please excuse my bad english

Maybe it is only available with Audi Sound System (ASS)??

If you have ASS (in Europe the ASS is only available as an extra option), you should have this Subwoofer option in the Sound settings - I don't have it my self, because I have B&O:

    Re: Cool VAG-COM codes

Played a little with a VAG COM yesterday. This is what I did:

    - Enabled needle sweep (cool)
    - Enabled Lap Timer
    - Disabled permanent seatbelt chime
    - Enabled VOICE CONTROL IN SPANISH !!! (this one RULEZ)
    - etc...

Here's a little compilation of some codes:

Activate Voice Command for the phone
Click Tab: “Electronics 1” Click Module 77: “Telephone” Click “Coding – 07”
Change 00x0x50 (5 = spanish) Click “Do it!” (other languages run from 0 to 9, 0 = off)

    Disable Seatbelt Chime
(chimes 4 or 5 times then stops, but NOT permanent anymore)
Click Tab: “Common” Click Module 17: “Instruments” Click “Coding – 07”
Click “Long Coding Helper” Uncheck “Seat belt watrning active”
Click “Transfer coding” Click “Do it!”

    Seat Memory
(for electric, non memory seats: key will remember driver’s configuration)
Click Tab: “Electronics 1” Click Module 36: “Seat Mem Drvr” Click Submodule 0 – “Master Cent Elec Box” Change byte 3 – bit 7 (el cuarto desde la izquierda) Click “Do it!”
    Or…
module 36 Seat Mem. Drvr (J136), O7, Coding, change Byte 2 bit number 0, to value 1 (checked)

    Reverse mirror tilt
(when reverse engaged, passenger mirror tilts down)
module 52 Door Elect, Pass., Long Coding, Byte 4.
If the byte has value 40 (cars without electrically folding mirrors), change it to 4C

Enable Daytime Running Lights (DRL LEDs)
STILL TRYING TO FIND OUT HOW TO ACTIVATE THIS
I HAVE MANAGED TO ENABLE THE MENU ON MY SCREEN, BUT NO EFFECT ON THE LEDS…

Module address 09 (Central Electronics) Submodule 0 (Master Cent. Elec. box)
Byte 02 (fourth from the left) - Bit 4 = LEDs DRL
Byte 03 (fourth from the left) - Bit 4 = Uncheck to activate DRL

Enable TPMS for “non TPMS” cars
I MANAGED TO ACTIVATE THE DASH DISPLAY, BUT IT AM STUCK FINDING HOW TO ADD THE TPMS MENU ON MY NON-MMI SCREEN: the third step is missing in my car !!!
    1) 07 - Control Head Adaptation – 10 Channel 01 add 16 to the existing value
    2) 03 - ABS Brakes Security Access – 16 Coding - 07 (Long coding helper)
    Byte 1 - bit 3 set to “1” (xxxx1xxx)
    3) 17 - Instruments Coding – 07 (Long coding helper) I CAN’T FIND THIS ONE IN MY CAR !!!
    Byte 4 - bit 0 set to “1” [Bit 0 - Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPMS) installed (1 = active)]

About #3 of Enable TPMS for “non TPMS” cars...

If you do an Auto Scan you will get a fault, saying "wrong coding" on the unit you need to enable "Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPMS) installed"

Beside #3 - you have enabled the MMI menu item?? - it should be possible to save the Tire Pressure without #3 - but the entire TPMS system will properly not work, until #3 is enabled.

About the DRLs, you can have a look at this thread: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=286705

    Re: Cool VAG-COM codes

I'd be surprised if the TPMS worked in the US as the system uses valve tranmitters and I guess they won't be on the wheels.

For the ROW then I don't see why it can't be enabled in software as it's simply using the existing ABS sensors. Perhaps the ROW/US/etc etc setting needs to match the TPMS setting?

I paid for it but it must be frustrating for those without when in theory it's just a case of flipping the right switch to activate it.

I think TPMS with sensors are standard in US cars - so there shouldn't be a need to do it on US cars.

It also seams to be some differences in the coding on different ABS units. On my ABS unit (ending with AH) it was bit 3 I needed to set to 1 - but this is not working on all units.

    Re: Cool VAG-COM codes

    @rlarsen:

I couldn't make step 3 because such menu was not present after VCDS scanned my car

I have a symphony radio, not MMI (no buttons or knobs around the shift gear)
Is it still possible for me to enable a "MMI item" an a non-MMI vehicle ??

    @scottyUK:

I got the USA A5 wheels, got them from a USA seller who was upgrading his A5 to 20", and they came with the TPMS valves

That's why I was curious to mess around with the system

Maybe it is in the [56 - Radio] unit??

Don't you have a CAR menu (see red circle)??

I have no idea if it IS possible - I don't have access to an A4 with your configuration.

I think it is possible to get the TPMS with non MMI direct from Audi - but how it is configured - I don't know.
