That would not be a problem, we have some nasty 5cyls over here, well over 1kawhp and the 5speed from 3b's/AAN's do their work.
Driveshafts on the otherhand, is the enemy. There is shafts in a special metalcompound they use, they are expensive as hell. They twists 1½ turns before they snap.(dont know their name in english, called sviktstål in swedish)

So mating a LS1 to the old S car 5spd would be

The S2 is the 6spd and the 90q is the 5spd.

wow this sounds like the rx7 forums lol. If you can do your own fab work, and understand wiring, you're 90% there. I'm not sure how popular this swap is so chances are you'll need to weld a subframe for the LS. If you need to take it to a shop for some custom work or wiring, costs would start adding up really fast, in the end, the 5k pullout will turn into a 15k swap.

In terms of keeping an awd system, the LS2 came on an awd trailblazer SS, a motivated person could probably swap over the entire drivetrain lol.

Either way, I would love to see somebody tackle this

I would LOVE to have an LS1 in my Audi. Fuck it, just convert the A4 to RWD with the Corvette transmission and get almost 30mpg on the freeway like Corvette's do.
