Just want to hear some opinions on whether it would be worth time and effort and what problems I would run into. Appreciate all the input of everyone on here. You guys make life much easier!
I don't know of anyone running 17z calipers with brackets. If you want to run larger rotors, I'd suggest finding some 18z calipers. Just makes it easier.

I've been running 17z pads in my 18z's w/ no issue.

not sure but those gl rotors don't look any larger than stock! It must be the angle and/or the wheels he has on!

As far as offset, all I did was barley ream the center bore w/ a die grinder & grind a little off the the bottom spindle & it centered right on the caliper.

They're 350mm so it better be larger than stock ;) You're right tho, 19's & the angle skew it some.

can you take a picture of how the rotor sits in the caliper?

Best I can do without popping the wheel off.....I'm lazy.

Where from if you don't mind me asking? They look really good and are exactly what I'm looking for.

Got them from cquence.net, I got the "extreme" rotors & I painted the hubs black. I've put almost 5K on them & so far I've been really pleased w/ em.

Here are Cadiburns's brakes
you BARELY have to remove anything from the inside of the rotor... literally probably less than a MM. yes the factory rotors have a larger hole in the center but there is some slop on the hub.
ML55 brembo blanks, cayenne calipers(18z?)
Nogaro 01 s43.0L GT28rsexhausted of it.. parted out
24v 2.9L BDF on the way

Been doing lots of reading & even read this whole thread again to get my head round it all. I'm doing this BBK kit for a C5 S6. I decided to go with ML55 front disc/rotors. I have got the 18z calipers which arrived today, got the JHM bolts & got some EBC yellow stuff pads, although wondering if I got the right pads as I got the 350mm ones which from what I've just read will overhang the ML55 discs a little. Does this cause much of a problem?
One area I'm really struggling with is the brake lines. I ordered front & rear braided SS lines from HEL, the rears I got are to fit the S6 rear calipers on my car & the fronts I got are for a B7 RS4 to go with the 18z calipers. They arrived the other day but the RS4 lines don't fit the 18z calipers, they are a female fitting on both ends. Shouldn't they have a banjo fitting or some type of fitting to screw into the caliper? Would it be possible for people to post up pics of the lines they have used?

Yes, the require banjo fittings.

Ordered my stoptech rs4 lines, do they come with the banjo bolts? Just wondering if I have to order some at the dealer.

Ok my lines don't have that fitting that screws into the caliper, both ends are the same as the other end. Wonder what they have sent me then, B5 RS4 maybe?

Looks like Girodisc now sells legit 2 piece rotors along with pads and lines for this set up. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Girodi...87?ref=tn_tnmn
Direct link to the rotors: http://www.girodisc.com/Girodisc-Fro...er_p_6416.html

*edit i found the other post stating why
but im kinda of skeptical by a company with their branded brakes are called "Magic pads" lol, I guess their marketing guy was out they day they were trying to think of a cool name to call them

Straight from their FB post: Our rotors will feature a 345mm diameter, 34mm thick floating rotor which is the proper size the 6-piston calipers, not 30mm, or 32mm like other two-piece or Mercedes rotors that some are using for this application.
The RB rotors are 30mm and the JHM's are 32, both of which are undersized, also I know that RB uses cheap rotor castings from overseas and JHM uses a "bolted" rotor meaning that it does not float. Also the JHM rotor has slots that continue off the edge of the rotor which is a big no no because it causes a major stress riser which will lead to premature crack propagation. That and Girodisc has been around for years now making some of the nicest rotors on the market. They usually cater to the higher end cars but a friend of mine who works there recently picked up an Allroad with the Cayenne calipers and wanted to build some rotors for it, that's how this whole project came about.

The thing that would keep me from going with the 2 piece rotors is simply the price tag. Either I can pick up the 2 piece rotors for $700ish and get replacement rings for $450ish or I can get a set of MB rotors for about $100. I guess what it really comes down to is if a few pounds of rotating mass is worth $600. For most of the people here though I think they can put that $600 towards a lighter set of wheels and have a larger affect on their rotating mass.

Exactly dude. Two piece rotors are great! If you track the car and you have unlimited funds, even better! However, I think some of us forget that our motor is forward of our front axles, regardless of weight savings, it's still a hold back (if you will).
Get some of those gl450 rotors, fitment looks great!

The giro disc rotors are great looking and perform well but, I'd guess $1300 for fronts is a little much for most people piecing together a kit. My c55 rotors cost me $80 on a close out $420 in calipers, $55 for lines, $38 for ceramic pads and I sold my stock brakes for $250. I'm at $340 out of pocket for a 345mm upgrade. The two piece option may happen down the road but $1300 for fronts seems out of place besides at the track.

My calipers came in today
I also figured out a inexpensive hardware solution for you guys. 16mm x 14mm x 20mm dry bearing made of of steel that fits perfectly in the caliper. Link for the bearing: http://www.amazon.com/14mm-Nom-I-D-M.../dp/B002HASYVS In the description it says that it is a bronze bearing but it is definitely made out of steel. All you would need then is a high strength 14mm bolt and nut.

Wish I would have seen the bearing solution before I ordered hardware. Seems like a good find.

Last shots, I promise. Brakes are on. Feel awesome. Haven't gotten them to fade yet. My old brakes were crap though. They'd shimmy and shake under hard brake. Definitely needed a good bleeding, new rotors, and new pads. So perfect timing on the Cayennes.
Parts list:
Cayenne 18Z Brembos
'02 ML55 Brembo Rotors (center bore opened up slightly)
Stoptech RS4 Stainless Steel Brake Lines
Hawk HPS Pads
JHM mounting bolts

So that bearing sleeve would eliminate the need of the "bolt kit"? Of course one would have to find their own bolts.

Brakes look great. I'm most likely going to go with the ML55 rotors as well.
Did you have them powdercoated or painted? I know Brembo suggests against powdercoating since it supposedly keep more heat in than painting by creating a thermal barrier. That color looks very nice.

Yep the dry bearing would eliminate the need for the "bolt kit". All you would need is 4 of those $.53 cent bearings.

They were painted at Autowerks. Turned out perfect.

I have bought the same set up as you except I have bought EBC yellow stuff pads & drilled/grooved discs. Whats size pads did you buy, the 330mm or the 350mm? I bought the pads for the 350mm calipers but have read that they will overhang a little.
