C5 A6 4.2Q Full exhaust suggestions (including cats, dp, and catback)
What say you learned owners about the necessary components to recreate the Milltek sound without the Milltek price?
Best I was quoted for a full Milltek exhaust was $2500 (including cats, dp, and cat-back exhaust components).
And what mods, if any, are there to remove any possibility of having the check engine light show up after the install?
Oh, and I'm in Cleveland, OH and in need of a reputable shop to do the repairs.
Thanks in advance.

here are a couple of clips of what our exhaust systems sound and perform like. only mods done to this car are jhm/vast catback exhaust and jhm/vast ecu/transmission programming. just think of what it would sound like with modified downpipes ;).

i will be developing and testing new parts for my 2001 4.2 a6 and keep you guys updated. i have no doubt i will be able to make the a6 4.2 engine more powerful then a stock s8 engine with only minor bolt-ons and tunes. as you can see in the videos i posted my car kept up with a stage 2+ 2.7t a6 with only exhaust, ecu and tcu upgrades.
edit: i forgot, the car also had a lightweight crank pulley, electric fan kit and prototype open element(in process of changing/making a ram air).
stay tuned ;)

Well since the 4.2 and the 2.7T have similar stock times 0-60 it seems like this is actually legit. However once you introduce a 6MT into the mix I think it would beat the 4.2 in a 1/4 mile.
I would have bought the 4.2 if it had a 6MT option.

yep, the 2 major things holding my car and other 4.2 autos back are the lower gear ratio and not being able to launch at higher rpm's like a manual can. i plan on putting in a torque converter with a higher stall in it to help with the launching at the track, as far as the gear ratio we will just have to make up for it with extra power and quicker shifts with the tcu program.
eventualy i plan on converting my 4.2 into a 6mt.

Oh shit dude, I didn't mean my actual car. I worded it wrong. I meant when I was running straight pipes on my 4.2. Sounds just like that video. Too much drone in car though
I don't want anybody calling me out or taking credit for a different persons whip. Nice car though.

Re: C5 A6 4.2Q Full exhaust suggestions (including cats, dp, and catback)
All I can say is if you want the best then you go with the company dedicated to the 4.2V8. I have a 2000 A6 4.2 and after talkin with a bunch of people at differing companies GIAC, APR, Unitronics, and a few others I finally got a hold of JH motorsports. All I can say is after talking with them I didnt even blink an eye. I need my car cause its my daily but I wanted only one guy tuning my ecu and tcu so I paid for a rental for 3 days and overnighted mine to them. I already have a custom exhaust and cant wait till tomarrow to get my car up and running. Huge thumbs up for the guys at JH very nice and took the time to answer all my crazy ?s. Im just waiting for some of the new great things they have coming out for the 4.2!
