My TIP is planned as follows (being fabbed up this week):
My air filter is underneath the passenger frame rail. Connected to a 3inch MAF housing connected to a custom aluminum pipe that tapers out to 4inches in diameter. That pipe continues to a 4" aluminum 90 to straight (now vertical) to a 4inch silicon 90 into the turbo. So, my whole TIP is a custom aluminum jobber.

Well, that is the plan that Jake and I came up with. We'll see how the final product comes out once we start fitting things together.

My turbo outlet (ie: hot side piping) goes out above the frame rail and underneath the headlight. 2.5inch piping.

Its on a B6 but the principles are similar. That is... If you don't have your A/C compressor on the passenger side of the motor (mine is driver side).

I thought about that too and was thinking of hand pounding a 4inch piece of aluminum into an oval to fit it over the headlight like the stock TIP is. However, that would be very restrictive so I opted for the under the frame-rail route.

Ocean City floods so you are driving in water up to your hubs? At that depth I wouldn't leave home or take my car out. Esp one looking like yours with the work you have put into it.

You need the TIP fully submerged to hydro-lock your motor.

i am super pleased with the way the powdercoating came out. i think i may be the first to have a diamond stiched headliner, yellow stiched at that. does any one know how many facelift euro trunks are in the us? the body work came out great., there a few spots i have to have fixed but i will wait untill after h2o. i just got the dei turbo blanket. the motor should be here by this sunday or wednesday. its coming to a finish.
