Ok, I just bought a 2007 DTM S4 last month at a great price of $31,300 with just under 16k on the clock...
So it dawned on me yesterday when a G8 GT pulled up next to me at a red light and did the typical point at me and then point ahead to signify he wanted to race. Being a male with testicles, of course I agreed and so we took off. I knew going into the red-light drag race that the G8 GT was very similar in straight-line speed. But, when I actually saw for myself that the G8 hung right with me, it hit me that I needed more power...I mean significantly more power. Which brings to mind the upcoming VF Supercharger for the S4. It will be around $9,500 which is a lot but if it surpasses RS-4 performance I believe it is WELL worth it!
What is everyone's predictions (or if you have facts) on how the supercharger will enhance the S4's 1/4 mile and 0-60 times among other things. Knowing that the RS4 is 420hp and the VF SC S4 will be approx. 500 HP give or take, should we expect a 4.5 or so 0-60 and a 12.5 1/4 mile? This will be more than enough to beat even hopefully the G8 GXP's that are now on the roads. Yes I know these cars are in different leagues and I wouldn't trade my S4 for one either (not even close) but they are both 4 doors and there are an AWFUL lot of them on the roads near me. I just can't stand the fact that everyone has this huge sedan that can hang with me. I figure even after this expense of the VF SC I will still have "only" dumped around 40k into my car (including the car!) and I will have a freaking AWD rocket that will be the biggest sleeper that I know of.
hopefully it wont be like the pes system for the 3.0. the pes system has a great eaton supercharger but it comes with a bad tune that many people have had problems with. since the internals of the b7 are not forged and it is mostly aluminum, i would be worried about parts breaking internally which would cause major issues. hopefuly the toon is good.
who manufactures the supercharger for the vf system?
There are a few teaser/tester threads from a user "Todeshandler" that is a guinea pig for the VF system, check out those threads for more info.
Yes, I have read ALL of his posts, very informative... But, I would still like to know everyone's thoughts and predictions as far as performance as mentioned above. THANKS

Mike, my S4 ran 13.03 (6 spd manual) (probably 4.5 0-60?) with JHM tune, and other JHM bolt ons - see posts. I gotta believe a true s/c will best that by a bunch, but who knows for sure. What you can do right now, to make it quicker, is some shedding - lw rotors, spare tire, battery, tires, lw exhaust, lw flywheel - maybe 200 lbs right there, plus loss of rotational mass of 30 lbs each front corner and 11 rears. Good luck.

Did you watch the videos? there are a few vids on here with a Supercharged S4 running a RS4...
I think it even has the dyno plots-
Stock/Supercharged/RS4
IronMike - I'm right with ya ... I had a similar experience last night with a tuned M3. I didn't even know I was going to be racing ...
I was at a light taking a friend for a test drive of my car (It's still pretty new for me, got it in Jan). It was a 3 lane highway and I was in the far left lane. Right next to me was some big old SUV (I think an Expedition) ... What I *didn't* see was the lowered M3 with blacked out windows to in the far right lane.
I was explaining the "S" drive mode in my Tip (I know, I know ... but my wife has to be able to drive my car on occasion. I tried teaching her manual back in 1995 and I'm still not ready to give it another go! Maybe in 2015 ... ) So I put it into "S" to show how the the shift points are changed, and then hit the gas at the green light.
It was then that I heard it ... the exhaust whine of the M3 - and saw him (her?) tear out of the light ...
Luckily, I had punched the gas as part of my demonstration, so I was able to immediately keep the pedal down. We had a nice 1 to 2 mile run down the highway (then we hit traffic and more lights). Neither of us was able to get a full car-length ahead of the other.
Anyway, I got through it with my pride intact, but I'd love a little (a lot) more low end power. It was way too close IMO - I'd have much preferred to leave 'em in the dust.
Yea, there are gonna be a lot of srt-8 challengers, new camaro ss, and G8 gxp, if we put the SC in this car, they would have no idea what hit them...and that...would be PRICELESS.
The blower used in the VF S4 & upcoming RS4 kit is not a Vortech (VF uses Vortech for many of their other kits however) as mentioned above. The unit is actually an Eaton M90. The M90 is a roots style supercharger which has been around for some time and proven to be very reliable and makes good power.
In response to the OP there is really no point to predicting or trying to guess performance figures. I suggest you just wait until everything is official and released in the next few months. Don't worry it's more than enough to blow the doors off a G8.... trust me I know from experience
Hey todeshandler, I know you have been used for testing for the s/c and it says you're from vegas. I'm from vegas, but am living in savannah right now (that's where I have my S4) I'll be in vegas for the summer. Any way I can check your car out while I'm out there?
If a SC S4 cant beat a RS4 then that SC is pointless
A stage2+ b5 s4 will beat an RS4 easily, IMO thats a waste of 10k if you cant take an RS4
did you watch the videos? The SC S4 puts 7-8 car lengths on the RS4 - it wasn't very close. It looks like the SC is going to put plenty of power in the S4.
nope not for sale but if someone offered me what I had invested into the car i'd probably sell. I've had the itch for a 996tt lately with how drastic they have been falling in price.
a bolton RS4 is no match for my car... I'll rape a stg 2 B5. I run about even with healthy stg 3 B5 S4 if we're both on pump. race gas i'll lose to a stg 3 b5.

I think this answers the OP's question. The Stage 3 B5's around me are running high 11's to low 12's, which should equate to a 3.5 to 4 second 0-60. Also, the RS4 runs about a 4.3 to 4.5 0-60 in the hands of the right driver and, based upon that video (RS4 vs. S/C'd S4), I'd guess the S/C'd S4 will do at least that.
Very soon, the JHM bolt-ons coupled with some weight savings will likely have you running about a 4.5 or 4.6 0-60, which is plenty of "oomph" to push you past a G8 or SRT8 and allow for a very entertaining run against a G8 GXP.
I'm actually crossing my fingers and hoping that JHM cracks our TIP (mechatronic) transmissions. With the right changes, even the TIP's may see 12.9 quarters and 4.6 0-60's!

One word regarding the video...Wow. Your car is a freaking beast, I can't wait to see the reaction on the guy's face in his G8 GXP when I smoke him (If he is not too far behind haha) That answers all my questions pretty much, next question is only, when the hell can I get mine!?????? ALSO, will this work with a TIPTRONIC? yes I have an auto...i know. ha

I would think even faster 0-60 than 4.5-4.6 if rs4 was getting smoked by this SC S4. More like 4.3 0-60 or so!? or did you mean just with JHM no SC??
My reference to a 0-60 of 4.5 to 4.6 was with the JHM bolt-ons and weight savings, based upon other posts on the zine. This should generally equate to about a 12.8 to 12.9 quarter (so far, they've run a 13 in an MT and a 13.3 in a TIP). The S/C'd S4 is likely running below a 4.3 0-60, my guess is that its around a 3.5 - 4 second car, but I think we need to see both cars pulling from a dig with the same amount of pre-loaded RPM before they launch to really have an idea.
I'm fairly confident that if JHM is able to crack the auto tranny codes, we will see TIPs running in the 12.9 range....all speculation and Internet engineering of course.

Right now the 2 fastest cars both MPH wise and 1/4 mile wise are N/A JHM cars. The S/C car is still in the hunt but they haven't made a real debate on it yet.

I came here from Germany in the 6th grade. I could not read or write a lick of English. I am working to get better. Thanks and sorry. I always try to edit my posts for the best grammar and easiest reading.
Justincredible...do you have any pics of the side of your car...wanna see the Volks.
No sorry :(
I have plenty of pix with the stockers but that is about all. I switched the wheels back to stock when the real cold set it. I will get some when I put them back on Tho. I kinda like the Volks....they are simple and not too flashy.

Not to be a party pooper but acouple of things I need to say.
The supercharged s4 avant put down I believe 360whp and weighs 4000lbs what kind of b5 stage3's are u racing. A normal run of the mil st3 puts down 400+whp and tq is 300-400 lbs less

I must say something as well, the B5 is great and all, but you are talking about a car that is 3 generations old. If I am going old school and want a fast car, I will buy a 10 year old dragster and run 9.0's all day...it may be fast but I would not want to sacrifice the newer technology and looks of today's cars.

Hmmmm.... I've raced an AWE stg 3 and beat it and I've raced my buddies custom tuned ASP stg 3 several times (both cars were straight k04 cars) and he beats me by about a car length from 2nd to top of 4th gear. He's on this board (Silence) and will be than happy to back that up.
However your assumption that a normal stg 3 b5 puts down 400whp on pump gas is pretty far off base. Unless it's on the super happy dynojets. My car would put down considerably more on a dynojet than it did on GIAC's Mustang.
Also you need to consider area under the curve not just peak numbers. With the roots style blower I get immediate torque delivery. When I run silence from 1-3rd gears I'll win. When we run from 2-4th or 3-5th I'll jump almost a car while his turbos are spooling and then he'll gradually pull.

All dynos are not equal. A mustang dyno reads 5-9% less whp than the dynojet. If you were to assume the average of 27-30% your in the high 495-510chp range.

There are not many Stg 3 S4's that are putting down 400 + WHP. Not many at all. You think your Stage 3 A4 can hang with a S/C S4 or RS4????

True. Friend of mine dyno'd at 360 whp on a dyno dynamics. This is a car with PJ K04s and an aggressive custom ASP tune (about 24 psi). Only where to go for this car would be meth injection or bigger turbos. DD is the most conservative dyno, but you get the idea.
