Definitely looks torched. That sucks, but its what happens when you deal with shady people.

EDIT: Actually, scratch that. It is a 55. Pretty much the only way to tell is the sides of the front bumper. Didn't even think of it at first. The 63 has 2 vent slots on the lower side of the front bumper similar to the RS4.
wow that sux balls ... it looks like they used that car to blow it up in a movie ... thats what happens when you owe people money and don't pay them lol
They didn't put a V12 TT in the CLS unless you had it done by somebody like Brabus or Renntech. The earlier AMG models came with the 5.5 liter supercharged V8 (torquemonster!), and the newer ones comes with the NA 6.3 V8 and a 7 Speed auto tranny. Both are fast as hell, until they get blowed up by someone with a grudge.
The radiator in the front is either a heavy-duty transmission cooler or an oil cooler. If the car has a water-air intercooler, it could be the radiator for the intercooler as well.

Dude, how old is that link? Umm, spy shots of a car that's been out for years??
They never made a 65 version of the CLS AMG, just 55 (supercharged 5.4L) and 63 (n/a 6.2L)
yeah that link has gotta be old. It's probably a shot from when they were first coming out with the 63 a couple years ago but before they actually released it with a name.
And looking at that car even though it has the quad exhaust like that, it doesn't have the same front bumper as the 63 does. And considering a lot of that car has been modified i don't know if that exhaust is a dead give away that it's the 63.
^^ I'm still confused as to how you can tell what motor it has without the side badges?
I'm not disagreeing that it's the 55, but they both have quad exhaust and since this is badgeless on the sides i'm wondering where you can tell what motor it has.
But as far as the front bumper, this is what i was talking about...
It has those 2 side vents on it. And yes i'm aware that ^^ is a CL not a CLS, but i have an article from motortrend pinned on my door with the CLS63 and it has the same front bumper. I just can't find any pics on google of it.
And the 55 does not. Also i'm pretty sure that the 63 was a replacement for the 55 rather than another model choice.

The way you can tell is by the after market heat exchanger that I posted above...
The CLS63 AMG is a naturally aspirated 6.2L V8, whereas the CLS55 AMG is a 5.4L Supercharged V8, which is water-to-air intercooled, thus the aftermarket heat exchanger on the front of the car that b[urnt down. Since the CLS63 AMG is naturally aspirated, there is no heat exchangers because there is no intercooling.
In regards to the side vents on the front bumper, neither the CLS55 or the CLS63 had such bumpers... if you saw it somewhere it must have been custom cut into the existing bumper.

You are correct, the 63 was a replacement for the 55, it replaced it for the 2007 model year.

I highly doubt it's a water-air intercooler as that would hinder the daily driveability of the car. Either way it doesn't matter now.
Can you please explain why?
ALL of the supercharged V8 AMG cars use water-air intercooling, only issues we see are the intercooler water pumps failing at around 50,000 miles, which is bitter sweet because for $175 you can upgrade to a pump that has double the flow rate over a stock pump.
My V12 Biturbo S-Class uses the same water-air intercooling, just like the rest of the 65 AMG cars.
Well my pump is still good :D It's just that the pump sucks and the IAT climb and shut off the S/C and then you're slow as hell lol.

ok that makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up.
But i saw the bumper in an article on motortrend magazine, in the physical magazine itself. It's pinned up on this collage of my favorite motortrend articles i have on my door. Unfortunately i can't seem to find the picture from the article anywhere on the internet... Maybe it's a special package?
But i thought that MSRP was the base price for the 500 and 550 models. I always assumed that the 63 amg would have a huge price jump like the SL65 AMG does, where it goes from $96k to $192k.

No special packages, all AMG cars like that come with the same body kit.
Maybe you're thinking of my friend Slang500's car?
I think the S55 and the CL55 were the most expensive 5.5 supercharged cars, they were around $120,000. The CLS and the E-Class are under $100K and can be bought nowadays for about $40,000.
You know they say the only thing faster than an AMG is it's depreciation.

No i was definitely thinking of the motortrend article. So then the price difference is simply the fact it's a 5.5 supercharged V8? And the reason the SL65 AMG is so expensive is the twin turbo V12?

As mentioned above, the CLS63 was a direct replacement in 07 for the CLS55, so pricing is similar to the 55. All the 63s (E, CL, SL, etc.) are replacements for the 55s, and are in no way comparable to the outrageously priced 65s.
PS: the 65 is only offered on the 3 'flagship' models, the S, SL and CL.
