Three different style clips, none look like the ones on the seat back itself.

They slide into the mounts where the old clips broke off. The toothed edges snug up to the inside of the depression in the old mount. They press-fit in.

    Re: Seat back repair

My bottom clip replacements were metal, and had toothed edges that bit into the plastic when pushed into the cavity from the old clips base.

    Re: Seat back repair

Perhaps there's two kits? Or maybe you have a newer revision? Though I can't see why they'd go with glue and plastic over the metal replacements.

    Re: Seat back repair

In a write-up I read here or AW, the repair kit was plastic clips and glue.

I just used 1/8"x1" aluminum that I had around and attached with nearly invisible black screws from the seat back.

    Re: Seat back repair

Yeah, sounds like the wrong kit. The kit I used, is two metal hook inserts that fit the plastic bases glued to the seat back at the factory. (The base pads of the broken hooks) There are also two pieces of felt that are applied to the seat sheet metal where the new metal hooks engage to prevent squeeks. See link for write up. Your lumbar support broke, you'll need to fix that first.

The back of my seat popped off also, but my lumbar support seems to be working just fine? Am I missing something here?

It usually breaks on one side at a time, have you removed the seat back cover to see that it's fine?

I didn't see any way for the seat back to pop off with a good lumbar support but you never know.

That's one way to do it, but you'll break the clips doing so. If I remember correctly, you pry it out at the top and lift.

    Audi Seat Back Repair

The cost of the seat back repair kit was $50, so I fixed the problem myself. Here is how:

    1. With the seat back cover off, place a block of wood (approximately a foot long, 1/2 thick, and about 2-3 inches wide) behind the two tabs at the bottom. Make sure height of wood does not interfere with lumbar support movement.
    2. Use two screws to secure the block of wood. Screw through the two tabs and into the wood. This secures the wood behind the tabs.
    3. Replace the seat back cover.
    4. Use a third screw (placed at bottom center of seat cover behind mesh) to secure the lower part of the seat back cover to the block of wood you attached above.

You will see the third screw if you are sitting in the back and looking at the floor.... but this fix saves you $50 and it works well.
