COngrats on finishing the project! Out of curiosity, how much did all this cost you? I am contemplating doing this in the future myslef. I havent read through all the posts yet, did you have a CVT? And did you stay with the CVT for the entire swap?

he had a manual FWD 5 speed and went quattro. CVT is not an AWD transmission, no driveshaft, you would either need a tip AWD trans or 5 speed awd trans

I just happen to have a 5 speed AWD trans btw too hah

FYI, a trans from Clint would be closer the lower end of that range. And he's local.

So if I read this correctly... I can take a FWD CVT A4 and make it into a 6spd manual with AWD... If so can you recommend a shop in the So Cal area that can do this project???

That would be a BIG project but yes its possible. If you're doing it at a shop I would give yourself a ~$5000 budget

    Re: AWD Swap almost DONE

I would just say F the awd and go for frontrak manual (I may be incorrect in thinking that CVT and Frontrak are different, someone please correct me if I am). Save the rest of the money for a build

Great work man. Glad its holding up for you.

I've been reading up on swaps since my CVT is about shot. Trying to figure out what would be most cost effective behind the 3.0. A manual swap, and stay FWD or an Automatic and go Quattro. Either way the CVT has to go.
