Re: Soon to be a GT3076r BAT Member - Q about T3 Treadstone Manifold
Holy shit are oil lines expensive! Phuqin redonculous!
I have the coolant lines covered. Going to run a banjo/barbed for inlet/oulet. Im assuming that the GTRS are the same as GT30?
OIL LINES: Is there any way that i can use the stock lines? Maybe extend the stock line near the turbo by cutting/flaring and extending it? I just cant justify spending $150-$200 on oil lines.
And what is everyone doing for the oil pan flange. What type is it?
Anyone have a cheaper way to do oil lines in general...maybe the best combination with the least amount of parts?
What are the thread types on the stock oil lines inlet and outlet?
Sorry for the bombardment of questions...but oil lines are the last part of the kit before i bolt it on.

Do a general search on vwvortex in the forced performance section and you can find a plethora of lines for sale

The IE's are 20mm. I was going to use those with AEB pistons for a 1.8L but changed my mind. Will be using them with a different crank/piston combo for a 2.0L+ setup, but just havent decided.
Oil Lines. ...So far, off ATP's site, there is the oil filter housing adaptor, 3/4ft line and the restrictor and that is a -4AN setup for about ~$65. Thats not that bad. So basically, looks like ill need the return flange to a barbed fitting that goes to the stock (modified) oil pan flange.
Do we need the 3ft'er line or the 4ft'er line from the filter housing to turbo? Is our stock 3AN or 4AN?

Yes, all that i/c piping is needed. Its going to be all hard pipes. I mainly need the bends so not all that length will be used.
The 2 3" pieces you see are for my turbo intake.

And a AN-4 oil restrictor for that AN-4 oil feed line. Let me try the clarify my return line. On the oil pan there is a metal elbow and flange. I cut off the factory SS braided hose leaving on the metal fitting that goes to the pan. Then I clamped a AN-10 SS hose to it with a female AN-10 fitting on the other end that connects to the male AN-10 fitting on the bottom of the turbo.

Haha...yeah. Its my daily driver so im trying to slate out a whole weekend to do it. At this point ive sourced every nut and bolt needed for the swap.
First im going to do the turbo (low boost), fab up the dp and redo my intercooler piping (all of it) then when its running for a week or so, im going to swap the AEB head and swap in IE rods (picked up 19mms) for now. In a few months, ill build the block, use my 20mm IE rods, new crank, etc.
Its been so cold in MI (~20 degrees) its a bitch to do anything. I hate this f'ing state.
Im shooting for this weekend...hopefully...its supposed to warm up a bit ~40's

Re: Soon to be a GT3076r BAT Member - Q about T3 Treadstone Manifold
Couple reasons, its my daily driver, so i can only spare a weekend (for now) to work on it. So that means i can do the turbo/head. But block (to be done right) has to be sent out for machining etc. So untill the weather warms up, i can take my bike to work while the motor is out. So For now im going to do the turbo one weekend, then do the head/rods the following weekend and hope that when i measure the crank/bearings they are within tolerance. I got the ARP's so i can reuse them when doing the block right in a few months.
Oh, and another reason is the good ol' money problem...i gotta clear my credit cards before i charge a crank/pistons and other stuff for the block.

you need much more than a weekend for a complete motor build believe me, $5 parts screw you over. Get a spare block and go from there, you're car will never have to be down
Re: Soon to be a GT3076r BAT Member - Q about T3 Treadstone Manifold
Ok the GT30 is in! I went around the block to cycle the coolant and so far so good. Ill post pics when i get them off my cam.
The install was more of a pita than i thought...mainly fabbing the downpipe and WG plumbing and believe it or not. Also the oil return was a huge bitch since i cheaped out
Im going to start a new GT30 thread and will continue on there with pics etc. Ill update this thread with a link.
