I am just surprised that hardly any S4's are in the 10's (and that really isn't that fast when a lot of other cars are running 9's and even 8's)? Auto tranny would definately help when trying to hit 10's and lower.
probably because 95% of S4 owners dont give a shit about living life a quarter mile at a time. every major tuner up till a few years ago was more into suspension and power delivery than straight line speed.
without the aid of nitrous and/or weight reduction its never been done.. TO MY KNOWLEDGE. People in this community hate both, THATS why it isnt done often. Thats your real answer.. GT cars are along ways away from a constant 10 second car on full enterior and no aid of nitrous or meth.
Sarabi did it in the ETGP without nitrous our weight reduction.
For sale:
Silver Trunk (Great condition)
Pass. side timing belt cover (2.8 Brand New)
AC Lines and Condesor
Stock Fuel Rail with FPR
034 Lower Compression Headgaskets
Misc. oil and coolant lines
Misc. brackets
Misc. AN Fittings and braided lines.
Well I think you might have to consider ME as some weight reduction.
I stand corrected! A 140 lbs human being weight mod. But in reality, it did it, and it did it on crud tires. And it could probably do it again. I hear E-code has been working on the S4 lately.

First part of your post I agree with...the second part, not so much. I think quite a few more will pull it off this upcoming season as some of the bigger tuners like EPL are starting to really enjoy working on these GT cars...tuning KO4's for the last decade can get pretty boring and not very challenging. As with any setup...IT'S ALL IN THE TUNE.

I agree, tuning is a major part.. Like Jrock said, hes doing 10.30's with a very minor setup, but just the right parts combined, yet you have supras that are putting down 2x the amount of power and not running that. To me GT's are more of a mph turbo, and not an ET, but thats just my opinion. They are a monster on the highway, but I just dont see the drivetrain of the car staying together with all of the torque and doing pass after pass. I dont see how my car shattered a rear end from a hard launch yet a car putting down 5x's the power of it is not going to.. And people say "well you cant launch at 5k".. ALL of the AWD cars that are running 10's scoot out at 5k-6k. 3k-4k rpm launches dont make sick 60's. When I did the 13.6 I launched at like 4500?? Jrock could better tell you as he has the video of it, but I thought the whole bottom of the car was going to come off. The car isnt made to be beat like that, its a luxury, heavy sedan.. Evo's arent that much lighter but they were built to have the shish beat out of them.
There is consistency with skill, then there is just straight out boring and being lazy. Sorry but watching a 10 second automatic race is like watching paint dry, but I am sure it would be the same in the driver seat.
Now bracket racing a 10 second manual turbo awd car does take some skill.
I'd rather consistently win races than to consistently lose them and have to use the 3rd pedal as an excuse. So have fun watching the "boring" auto cars "consistently" beat you

Btw, wrecks are fun to watch too
both take skill either way, but breaking parts is alot easier to do in a manuel.
a built auto will be faster then a manuel any day of the week.

Evos are not meant for drag either. My trans poped on stock turbo!!!! And that was at a 6k launch building 10psi off the 2 step. To launch an AWD turbo car, you need the revs up there. If i launched the Evo at anything below 5 it would just suck off the line.

I completely agree in this case. It's funny that you have "benz" in your name, because Mercedes is a prime example of VERY fast automatic cars. Take the W211 E55 AMG, for example. 469 horsepower and 516 ft-lb of torque, stock!! Many of the E55s run in the high 11s bone stock. I completely respect those cars and many other AMGs, even though they are all automatics. Obviously, I also greatly respect the guys that can pull off consistent 11s in S4s with the 6-speed.

Who's this Manuel you speak of? .....I want a Manuel shifting for me.......

I dont get why it is funny that he has Benz in his name. He has a CLK55 AMG...... And it

I meant "funny" as in "what a coincidence" not "you're a loser" funny. I was about to use Mercedes as an example right before he chimed in, so I thought it was amusing.

Thats cool. I have a feeling that most Stage 3 cars, would lose to his Benz. even the "almighty" 10secS4 tuned car

Ive never ever been a fan of 2 step.. Whenever I se to race brants car for him I never used the 2 step, and I came out of the hole alot harder. Evos are def. made for being ran hard..Their design base started with this in mine.. S4's did not

They are meant to be run hard. But they are built for road racing and rally. Not so much with drag racing in mind. The trans and transfer case is just too weak.
IDK man, i have always used the 2 step, it all depends on what you have it set at. When mine was set at 5k, the car would just bog. Than i upped it to 6k and i pulled 1.6 60' all day long until the trans blew

I def. think that his car would lose to jake with the setup that I saw in h2o. I know hes made some changes, So i guess we will just have to see first hand.
Wish I would of gotten a better run with him on my bike, I need to order a shift fork and crack the motor in half to get in there and swap it out.. Afte that the race plastics are going on it and it will be a track only bike

I just didnt like the fact that the rpm would bounce.. Catchin it on a the down swing just made me feel like their was time and power to be lost. Just my thougt..
My arguement is that they were def. made beefer then our cars. The gearing is also better for drag then whats in an S4

LOL, ok. You heard what times Ahmad is running consistently now? Is Jake coming out to the Supra meet on friday? I'm sure a run could be arranged

Ill agree on the gearing part. I always liked having 10psi already built tho over not having any boost. But that is just me.

The race is mainly won at the light with reaction time when it comes to bracket racing and with enough skill the shifting part is not an issue.

Very easy to get that 10psi just by going WOT before you dump the clutch. At the USCC event I asked the shop to turn off the 2step in smogruners Evo and just did a normal wot clutch dump launch. Do the same thing in my A4 to put down mid 1.5's in the 60 ft.

The most my Evo would ever make at WOT with no load was like 2 psi.

Well the main trick is to make sure the rpms are climbing quickly enough before letting the clutch out, so more rpm travel before that point. Even if the boost is lower you still get out of the hole quicker then 2step holding boost since the rpms are just held in 1 small area. Now 2step with anti-lag is a whole different story.
Here is my 1.54 60 ft launch video if you haven't seen it already. Just a shake down run to the 1/8th.

Ya, i was on stock ECU, so no Antilag for me. But i know what you mean. I have yet to launch the S4, but i dont really plan on it. That isnt what i bought this car for.

pretty much the same thing i do.. I dont hold the revs up there like most people
adam:
Who knows, I gotta find a new towson hottie, the last one gotta little crazy on me! ha
Mossburg is right, my shits slow. Its just a tiny bit faster than when I ran you on the bike with me having a passenger and on 19's
Unfortunately I have retired from racing...
and when my shift fork was messed up and I had to go from a 90mph roll in a slight drizzle.. We can all play that game.. lol
going from 90 in 3rd is going from like 55mph in an s4 from 3rd.. The worst part is, is that you dont have the rpm from the motor to carry you from 2nd to 3rd.. Whenever j rock and I would take off evenly, me starting in 2nd I would pull him by about a half a car to a car. Leaving with his stall locked we would be dead even.. Think your car is faster then his?? lol We can run again, just different color, thats all.
OK, whatever you say. Maybe drag racing, but i bet i can coax a highway pull out of you
You know I'm scared of Audi's!!! *runs and hides* If I bring the 55 out for the supra meet I will throw some tire in the turnk and I may be talked into making some runs if someone brings a trailer for me lol No guarantees
