That sounds about right. Unlike other cars, you can't just slap on a fat snail on these cars and get impressive numbers. It's a bit more complicated. Have you looked under your hood? That thing looks like a day shift stripper.

I was trying to get at our engines being a mess. The technology for our cars to get into the ten's (less shaving a lot of weight) has taken quite some time because our engines are complicated/have no room.

didnt you say it'd be running by september? Whats the deal with it, i havent seen your "i dropped a nut in my engine" thread in a while.
Mooseimage - I'm no longer afraid of needles since I was like 10 (I used to be the kid that 5 doctors and my mom would have to hold down while another doctor stuck me in the ass.) Now I actually really enjoy it and watch

JHM is like .00001 sec away from hitting 10's and thats at full wieght and interior..their trap speeds are def good for a 10sec pass...people really dont understand how hard it is to get into the 10's with any cars..its a world of a difference from a car running mid and even low 11's..go to the track and watch and talk to guys with HUGE hp and tq numbers that just cant hit 10's for a number of reasons, even if their trap speeds are good for it..i watched for 3 years 2 rival civics from my local shops with over 700hp and 36"in slicks trapping 134mph not get into the 10's until finally in 2005..the track can be a heart breaker.. an s4, engine wise, isnt a hard car to get into the 11's at all..its the weight that destroys and advantage we have..10's is all about the driver and the reliability and efficiency of the car and all the parts on it..some cars need to be launched and beat on 5 passes in a row to start getting into their groove

Yeah it was also supposed to be running by WaterFest! I ran into some big problems with fabricators over the summer. I got my car towed from NJ to Rhode Island to a new fabricator and machine shop. Things are starting to come together... I am waiting the arrival of the new flanges and some more schedule 10. *Should* be up and running soon, depending on how long it takes to receive the piping, I'd say just after the holidays.

woooo, wooo ,woooo
I am no expert, so take this with a grain of salt.
Why schedule 10 and not 40??? The last thing you want is that manifold to crack **** not like s4s are easy to work on............

Jake and I took schedule 40 into consideration. We figured we should at least try and use schedule 10, if we run into issues we can always go hardcore. It's not like schedule 10 is tin-can material. It is pretty solid. Another aspect was cost, as schedule 40 is even more $$$. Not to say we are cheaping out, but if we can do it with one material...then we can avert more costs.
The S366 is also very heavy, so if these manifolds can handle the weight of that, than it should be able to handle a 35r/T67 etc. A lot of it also will depend on the quality of the welds, which is why these suckers are getting x-rayed. Our motto right now is... "only one way to find out". So if they fail, back to the drawing board.
We are not using a turbo-brace either.
GenX GT kits use schedule 10, granted they aren't holding one large turbo.
I'd be interested to hear what the AWE and ASP manifolds are made from. As both of those brands have had numerous issues with cracking.

I was looking at this one website on Saturday, and there were 2 in 10s. However I don't know updated that was. If you say there is one, then the other must not be running.

I won't say more than this, but from my personal experience with tubular manifolds.. very well made ones to boot. I would spend the money on upgraded material.... cracked manifolds are one of those pain in the ass issues that turbo cars encounter more often than not...... and man would I hate to have to deal with an issue like that on an S4-**** lots of work.
"Car isn't 100% right now" ********- yeah well with 15% of your exhaust energy leaking out of that crack I bet it isn't.

Jared went 10's a couple years ago. i know there's no time slip, but from talking him he dosent seem like the type to bullshit. Nitrous or no nitrous, its still a 10 sec pass.

Oh yeah, when I originally said two, I hadn't paid attention to who the second guy was. I just saw when I posted the link that it was actually thhe polish guy. So yeah for the US, the only recorded one is Marcs, at least on that website.

deb, Sch 10 is PLENTY thick enough for the manifolds. I have done the research. Sch 40 is too thick. It would be a waste, especially if you are trying to be lighter than the rest...
i know of 6 cars in the 10s stateside as of now, first s4 to do it was a cali car owned by a shop then i think marc then me or the other way around cant remember at this point, then serabi with hood driving at etgp, then brenton out in michigan and then the colombian dude down in FL.
who frickin knows how many there are that arent talked about, it isnt uncommon to come across very built cars that we never hear about on the forums or people hustle on
Do you have a link to a thread with details on any of these setups at time of the 10's or even a thread about your ten second pass? I'd like to know more about it.

On the thin stuff even with a good weld you almost always see the thin wall medal crack next to the weld.

I notice with S4's to get into 10's is a real challenge and takes a ass ton of money to do so. And to keep it in the 10's is another entire challenge alone from just doing it once or twice. Your heads just don't flow very well. And a GT28 setup is hardly anything compared to 1 turbo most drag honda's run for that matter. GT28's are small period. They are slightly larger than my stock twins that came off my supra years ago. And i can't imagine trying to utilize them turbos to go 10's when they max flow out under 600rwhp.
I wouldn't say your weight is a disadvantage as much as your drive train's and limited turbo sizes are. Also i don't hear many of you using stand alone ecu's? Just basically it's a real challenge. And the guys who have done it i give alot of respect to. You all def. don't lack in the tq side though. Just let time develop more parts and you all will get more car's there im sure.
My supra at 530whp on low boost (23pis) T67 single turbo, bone stock motor, stand alone ecu, built auto trans. Full weight weighing in at 3450 with me in it ran a 10.30. But that is easy with our cars we have tons of room for massive turbo's, fuel systems and standalone computers all over ready to go. And being RWD is the best drive train setup to run drag period.
I wanna see someone do a built motor, twin GT40r's with small hot side for quick spool, hit it with a 100 shot to spool off the line then cut it, put in a fully built auto trans, leave it awd of course, full weight, stand alone ecu, run C16 or Q16 30psi. A S4 properly setup like that should be 9's for sure.
