No, I think its because you are actually getting fuel now. Should have had you log injector duty cycle before and after

She was running well but is taking on a new transformation.

She will now sport a 2.0L stroker motor with a 6spd manual transmission.

I thought I'd add my 2c here. I'm running a GTRS elim on a FWD tip. My only upgrades to the trans have been an IPT torque converter. I boost around 20 PSI with water/meth and so far I haven't run into any problems (knock on wood). After doing a substantial amount of research on the topic of BT tips I figure they can handle a GTRS elim with a TC and VB upgrade. This may extend to a GT2871r as well. However past that I'm not so sure.

I've seen mention here of stage 3 S4's with tip transmissions running 450HP though them. The problem is that many of these stage 3 S4's eventually blow the transmissions. I personally know a guy with a stage 3+ A6 that was running a 5HP-19FLA trans that eventually went kaboom. He then put a 6 speed in. I guess what I'm saying is that the 5-HP's aren't a bad trans, and with about $1500 worth of mods they can hold some decent power. However it's kind of like teaching an elephant to sprint; you can do it, but why bother.

That said, I also understand that it's not always how much power you make. Being innovative and probing areas that others haven't reached yet has it's own appeal (kind of why I've been running a GTRS tip). So hats off to you guys, it's nice to see people trying something different.

So all FWD auto B6's are CVT where did u fit the Torque converter? u sure u don't have an AWD?

and a built 5HP19FLA should be good for at least 150whp over stock.

Nope no CVT or AWD, it's a 98 B5 Passat. As for the 150 WHP over stock, I'd be inclined to agree that a TC and VB upgrade would make for a fairly reliable setup. However past 300 AWHP (400 CHP) I don't think anyone can say for certain. Like I said, there are a lot of stage 3 S4's that have grenaded those transmissions. However they also make a lot more low end torque than a 1.8T or stoker 2.0. Fact is, it's kind of unknown territory. If you're willing to have a trans possibly die in the name of science then I say more power to ya. It just sucks that they cost $3000-$4000 to rebuild (ask me how I know).

Where in Canada are you? I'm probably running the biggest turbo setup on tiptronic here, but it's on mild boost at 18psi. Haven't had failure yet, but I am going to take her in for a fluid, filter and gasket change on the transmission.

I'm in Calgary, what are the exact specs on your turbo? Also, how long have you been running it on the tip?

Wow, you guys respond quick. I had a chance to check your build thread in the meantime. Have you been having any luck with the limp mode issue? Also, have you had the TC upgraded yet? I'm running an IPT unit and I've been really happy with it so far.

iron vs aluminum block is meaningless.

the Evo's 4g63 motor is aluminum and it handles 500Awhp completely stock.

it's the toothpick rods inside the 1.8t that are the weakpoint. and the forged pistons/low compression ratio that allow for double the stock output.

all factory turbocharged engines are good for at LEAST double the factory output. the 1.8t is actually at the bottm of the scale right next to the WRX's 2.0l motor.
Just for the record, the Mitsu 4G63 block was cast iron, and the newer and current 4B11T (Evo X) block is cast aluminum.
