I'm thinking of putting one in so my passenger has something to watch during long roadtrips.
Dont know the modelname its like a No-name-brand but it gets the job done, and it have a USB port and its Xvid compatible so you can fill an USB-stick up with friends, plug it in and drive all night long!
But i think its the one that http://www.kufatec.de sells. But i bought mine from a guy in the UK.
Cheers

Its so much more simple to put the gpsantenna behind the speedo instead of pulling two doorsil, backseat, c-pillar and to find the connecting fakra cable. it takes like 30 sec to mount the antenna. Ive done it my self. I hade a Concert II+ (thats the same unit as he has but his have a CD changer built in.
The DVD slot works for CD but you cant get the mapscreen or navigate with the DVD out. The SD-cards have some limit in folders and in songs. The color DIS works flawlessly with the RNS-e. But if you have the red one youll need to turn off the RNS-e and back on again to see the instructions. I made the swap myself and everything you can have to the regular radio, such as: BT, Ipod, sirius. will still work and will plug right in the back of the headunit.
I Bought a DVD-player and mounted it in the top of the glovbox and i bought a media-controle-interface so i can control the DVD-player with the butons of the steeringwheel and on the HU. Everything that worked before the swap will work afterwords. Its just plug n' play.
But... (theres always a but...)
Youll need to connect a VAG-Com cable and recode the DIS so it knows that you have a nav now. And you will have to get the RNS-e coded so it knows what options you have on the car, suchas BT-kit, Ipod, sirius, dvd exc...
The radio reception will not be as good after the retrofit due to an missing antenna. But you can solve this with a VW golf divercity antenna module.
I made the swap and i will do it tomorrow again if i get a new car.
And oh! Bose or no-bose makes no diffrance!
What Garmin can replace this OEM look. It's ugly to see some small screens glued on windshields and wire hanging below. You will not see that on expensive cars.

HUH???? What do you think that cool little shark fin antenna on our roof is for? Yes, you guessed it, its a gps antenna. Why in the hell would you pull the cluster out and put the antenna there?
Anyway, the link below is for those who understand pictures better than written words.
Also, the problem with an antenna mounted behind the cluster is that it will not have the same reception as the roof antenna. It has been tested and proven on some other threads. Both methods will work, I'm just a fan of getting as close to oem as possible.
I dont have a sharkfin and im not a fan of drilling in my car. And i get 6-8 satelites all the time. And you need atleast 3 to get a altitude possition. I dont think you can get more than 8. So if you have 6-8 or 7-8 all the time doesnt matter at all.

This might be true. Im not able of testing this thoo.. But i know its just the FM reseption. So if youre using AM or sirius it should be fine!

Anyways, OP I wouldn't go with anything but OEM now that I have it. Before I got my car I was going to go with a Kenwood DNX-8120, but I would never now. You can't get the same integration with the Kenwood but you can get all the features it has in different ways.
i.e. I'm going to use an aftermarket sound processor (most likely an RF 3sixty.2 or the new ArcAudio one) to get the tuning capabilities I will need/want.
If anyone wants a RNS-E unit with euro specs I have one for sale for $600 plus shipping and paypal fees. No cables included. It can be reflashed to US specs/Canada specs.
See this is the mistake most people make. Nothing needs to be removed except one roof panel that pops off. The gps extension cable is so thin it tucks under the door sills without needing to remove them. I did it at night and it took 40 minutes. Im sure it would have been much easier with light.

I have never once had a problem receiving a GPS signal and mine in mounted behind the RNS-E. I always receive between 5-7 sats.
As far as the antenna in the shark fin goes, I was informed there wasn't one in there. Oops. Thanks for the info.

I'm working on that now, it would be a little extra but I'm waiting for an email back from a local guy who does it professionally. That's where audiwxguy got his from. I am selling because in case you didn't see my thread, I ripped off my bumper and have to get a whole new setup which is 1000 bucks I wasn't planning on spending. PM me if your interested!
thats a hell of a price. put it in the fs section, it'll go quick!
