I think you missed the fact that he said "twin scroll" not single scroll internal wg GT30r. You might want to try reading the whole thing first.
ah true, thanks Mike I can read I must have just missed that... That Evo turbo looks cool, but for an Evo, everything is proprietary to them we would have to make custom intakes/downpipes/etc

Well seeing that we plan on making a kit out of it wouldn't that be the point?
At this time we have plans on doing 2 different kits that will include all those parts for both the B5 and B6 1.8t. We just have to wait to see which parts we will be able to get first, that turbo or the new Vband Tial 38 wg.
im going to be ordering up a new clutch here soon, but im a little hesitant on going with the southbend route, but i think the next option is to dish out over a grand on a clutch masters twin plate. what would you guys recommend or do?
also, im going to be needing new rod and main bearings when everything goes back in. how are the 034 motorsport coated OEM bearings?? what about regular good 'ol OEM?
Kyle,
What is your ultimate goal? What is the forced induction route you are planning (turbo, etc..)? That all contributes and helps answer questions to associated hardware. Ie: Clutch.
The SB clutches hold for street usage, however it is becoming apparent that they can not hold that kind of power under track usage. If you plan on frequenting the track then I feel you need something along the lines of the clutchmasters clutch.
I'm PMing you my phone number. Call me tomorrow or Friday evening to chat. I'd like to hear your thoughts on where you want to take this build.
Southbend and Clutchmasters also make 4 and 6 puck disks (more race application, but can be driven daily). You dont have to go either SB OFE or FE or straight to the $1200 Clutchmasters. There are 3 or 4 others in between. South Bend told me you have to run a different flywheel in order to run the 6 puck they have though and you probably wont ever be able to make enough power to need something better.

I can help you with your 1.8t work (timing belts, etc)

I took my car to the shop yesterday to get the engine re-installed along with the Clutchmasters twin plate clutch. I should have my car back this weekend or early next week. I'll post my impressions of the clutch after put some miles on it.

Their puck disks have to be used with a light weight flywheel since they are most likely made with a sprung disk or a flat unsprung disk. These disks will not work with a stock flywheel since it will hit the bolts that hold the flywheel to the crank flange. Should work fine with any of the lwfw's on the market including their 17 and 20 lbs billet steel flywheels.
I run a sprung 6 puck now, but I used to run a unsprung 6 puck and it was flat.

Glad to see your up and running....we need to do a GTG before it snows.

do the crank journals need to be machined (idk the term) to a lesser diameter to fit the oversized bearings?
no, the bearings themselves are what cause the extra clearence... no machining to the crank is done.
depending on how much power your going for you can do the .001 extra clreance calico bearings.... i would suggest it for sure if your plan on making anywhere near 400whp+
the mains you can just do OEM bearings.

This is my number 1 viewed thread. I hope you guys all keep communicating here so I can pick up tips on the logitudinal. Most people I know with the knowledge are transverse guys.
Kyle, I appreciate the tips on everything. Doug, who do you talk to at ASP for a tune? I'm planning to keep my APR hardware for now, but I expect they're gonna deny me a file for the 2.0L. So hell, I'll keep the hardware and go with someone else's tune.
I can't afford to bump the turbo right now, and the GT28Rs works fine for my purposes. All my extra money is going in to the build and a proper clutch. I'll upgrade turbo later once all you BAT boys have a reliable tune maxing it out.
My front starts getting pulled this weekend. Lined up the machine shop. This project is taking until spring for me. Car usually sits all winter anyhow.
A little at a time for me.
I hope everyone contributing to this thread is ready for some stupid questions. I want it done right the first time.
