    Looked at a new A6 today V8 4.2

I thought the MMI looked OK, and the grill really looks much better in person. I liked it in actual fact.

For me the two most notable changes inside were the new instrument cluster and the choice of button positions for the MMI.

The change to the cluster is as drastic as the grill change. I took an instant liking to the new cluster. It's so much nicer than anything else Audi has done, including the A8. I like the cluster in my A8 but I wish I had the one in the A6.

The change of button position was intresting. Unless you drove an A8 you would not notice this and for me I was trully left wondering why on earth Audi would do it. I don't want to comment on which layout is better, just that you expect commonality. If you owned both a A6 and a A8 (somthing I was considering) it would drive you crazy, the buttons are a complete reverse of each other between the A8 and A6.

I liked the A6 a lot. When MMI is on and in use I think it looks cleaner in the A6 being built in. But when switched off, I really like the clean apperence on my A8 as the MMI folds away. Yes, I know if you have MMI you want to ALWAYS use it, and play with it, after all whats the point etc etc etc. However let me just say after the novelty wares off, you set it and forget it and it really does not cross your mind until the next person want to see it. I like the put to bed option of the A8.

The power open glove compartment was kind of cool, pointless but I liked it. The tiptronic shifter had a much more manual look - very nice.

Did I mention the new cluster? Love the new cluster.

All in all I really liked the car, and as a second car, maybe although the change of button layout is not good.

Well worth the trip to your dealer to look at, I felt it was a great way to spend the afternoon.... Could have looked at the cluster all day. Really liked the cluster!

Foo, excelent choice of Audi you've made. I was impressed, and my wife is more than a little intrested in me buying one for her.

Did you order Nav, or any other options?

Audi has really cleaned up the A6. Clean, functional, and great class.

The new cluster a great example, clean, perfectly placed, functional, with style, Audi unique.

Hope to see this make-over thoughout the entire range. With the A8 W12 6.0 due ut next year, I hope to see similar changes.

Sorry Anthony, I sold my 1Ds, and I've not had time to go out and look for something else.

And, yes I quite liked the cluster. Big improvement. I never got used to or liked the 2001 changes, and it's good to see Audi's finaly stepped up and made changes.
