Because I ran plateless in SoCal for years and go sick of messing with it. My understanding is the cops here are just as bad. Not worth the hassle IMO.

In seattle, I was at a meter too long, brought the attention of the meter cop who then also wrote me up for missing front plate. Not a cheap ticket.

That's similar to how they get you down there. Don't get me wrong, they'll pull you over for it too - but pretty much any way they can get you they will. Last one I got my car was simply parked on the street in front of my house - meter maids went up and down both sides of the street writing tickets for everybody without front plates (or expired registration, etc. anything). Local governments are hard up for cash and will get it any way they can.
Do you think they'd be bigger ****s about an out of state car with no front plate? I don't run one here in CT and never get bothered about it *knocks on wood*
Wait.. i guess this is where this pic goes

I would almost think they'd be more lenient, as they wouldn't necessarily know the front plate laws of the state it was registered in. But who knows. Is you car registered in CT? Every state is different in both the law and the enforcement - I know out there they are very strict about it.
My puppy (an English bulldog named Mac) rides in the back of the Avant. He was pooped and hiding under the cargo cover after his trip to the off-lease park this morning.
Does anybody know about the laws for colorado because I see people without front plates all the time but most people have them so if you know you should tell me. I'm to lazy to look it up.
I don't have them on either of my cars. My B8 brand new off the lot didn't even come with provisions for a front license plate.
I got a ticket once for not having one about 4 years ago. Paid it online $10 and no points. I figure a new bumper cover would be at least $400 and paint for another $200. At that cost, for me I would have to get 60 tickets before it was worthwhile to put a license plate on.

Well, that's sort of a dumb question if you think about it. Why would they care at all? You follow registration laws based on the state of reg, not other states!!!

Definitely required here in CO. I don't have one personally, mostly because my bumper has no bracket. Some cities enforce it more than others. I live in Arvada where I've never had a single issue, but downtown they will get you everytime. If you plan on parking at a meter you'll want that plate, it's $75 for the ticket. I park in a garage when at work so I don't get passed by meter maids during the day. Also fwiw, I used to park outdoors downtown when I had my Wrangler, drove it for 6 years with no front plate and not a single ticket for it.
Gram, I know that cops here will do nothing to enforce plates on out of state vehicles as they have no jurisdiction on the vehicle it self. Even if your state requires it CO police would have no idea and even if they asked you just say they don't give you one.

Question for the folks who load their Xmas trees direct to their roof bars - do you ever find scratching of the roof paint from the tree branches at all. I've been paranoid about that, so always wrapped the tree in a tarp before loading it up top if it was larger or placed inside when it was less than say 6ft in height.
If you think what i posted was helpful please +rep
I never had any issues just putting it on the crossbars, although I wish I had at least laid a blanket down on the roof - just for peace of mind. That being said I never got any scratches after doing it this way for years. The one time I placed the tree inside actually was 10 times the hassle than the roof. Needles and sap everywhere as well as a couple of scuffs on the panels in the trunk. Never again. Roof is for trees, inside is for barrels.
Damn you guys act like youre 8 years old bickering about whether or not someone should be putting the license plate on their car. Thats the reason I hardly get on this website anymore.
Lets get this shit back on track. Junk in tha trunk

Hahahah, Funny you say that. I was in a small accident on Colfax and Santa Fe and the cop asked me about my front plate, I said Oregon doesn't have front plate laws, then she asked about my euro plate and I told her I had the car imported from Germany and the plate was fixed to the car. She said "wow, that's pretty cool actually" And didn't even bother with it hahaha.
Haha! Thanks! Even notice the Ipod dock in the right corner of the trunk. Gotta have good tunes w/o running down the battery on the car. I only wish I brought more brats for the BBQ!!!
