    Post Euro-Tuner's 2.0L GT3076r Build

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
ok, so my build has been done for a little while, but I've been getting asked by more and more people to post up my work and specs.

    The build (built winter '07-'08):
-2.0L bored and stroked ATW block
-stroker clearance w/ shimmed 3rd oil squirter
-ABA crank (with ABA trigger wheel NOT ATW trigger wheel)
    -144mm Carrillo rods
-83mm JE pistons 8.5:1 C/R from 034 w/ altered deck height for new crank-034 coated rod & main bearings
    -OEM oil pump
    -Full-Race manifold & Down pipe
    -44mm Tial Wastegate
    -Garrett GT3076 .63 a/r turbo w/ polished compressor housing
    -euro-spec 268/260 cams
-QTP 3" electronic dump valve on DP for tracking
-southbend stage 5 clutch w/ spring hub and AASCO 9lbs LWFW (single mass)
-Milltek 2.75" resonated exhaust w/ modded midpipe to connect 3" DP
    -SPP electric fan kit
    -MRC Tuning
    -034 Street Density motor mounts
    -Evolution Racewerks Competition FMIC
    -Walbro 255LPH Fuel Pump
    -630cc Siemens Injectors
-PLX Devices Wideband Air/Fuel sensor and controller
-VEI digital boost and A/F gauge

    things I skimped on:
    -knife edge my crank
    -high rate valve springs
-fuel pump that fit the basket (so what?)
-the head (stock ports, not port 'n polish for me)
-Suspension and brakes...but thats not really related

    notes:
-stock headgasket works on 83mm bore
-leave ABA trigger wheel on crank
-Intermediate Shaft will need stroker clearance as well as the crank case and 3rd oil squirter
-tap into compressor housing to use stock N-75 valve (no EBC w/ MRC tune)
-MAFless tune (will go with 3.5" RS4 MAF next summer)
-I had my engine work done by R&L Engines in Dover, NH. I did all the work myself except for the block work, and assembling the internals.
-when installing cams, be sure to not lose the tension on the tensioner or you'll be in for a new one...and they run abuot $350 ea. from the stealership
-use locktite on the crank bolt or you'll regret it!

    My Bible (thanks Jake)

    Misc. parts:

    Turbo, WG, & Manifold:

In the midst of the build:

After I got the engine back:

    ABA Crank & Carrillo Rods:

Euro-Spec cams w/ stock springs (High-rate springs added later):

    Southbend clutch:

no numbers yet, but Minhea is expecting 400AWHP on pump, and next summer I'm going to go for a meth & C16 dyno tune, those numbers should put close to 500 wheel (but dont jump on the estimations, thats just what they are)

I went for a night at the track and I couldnt hook up off the line, but my best trap was 119.xx MPH, so with some good wheels I should have a good run.

Please post questions or anything I missed

    ...thanks for looking

Nice car Curious why your turbo doesnt have the typical place where an ID tag would go on the compressor housing, wish mine was like that

ZING, everything for oil and water lines for the B5 with a GT series turbo

Disregard the straight 1/2" to -10AN, I didn't need that. You can also save money by not doing overnight shipping :)

the oil lines? the math is right there, I had ordered other stuff as well so my total was different, FWIW I bought a bunch of intake and exhaust stuff and still spend less than the oil line kits from certain vendors.

total oil lines was $245 including all the fittings, lines, gaskets, flanges, restrictor, coolant fittings...everything is there except for the coolant lines themselves, and those run super cheap at Autozone or Napa

Its better to use 45 deg AN fittings for the coolant lines instead of banjo bolts on a Top mount turbo setup.

Hmmm, how would a 45* improve flow?

Well the 45 deg AN fitting should increase flow because it is slightly larger hole and is a smooth bend instead of a complete change in direction. A banjo bolt setup needs to face downward and since the turbo mounts on top of the manifold the flange and manifold get in the way of the fittings and lines. The lines also then get in the way of dealing with the turbo/manifold bolts, this means you would need to remove the coolant lines very time you want to tighten or remove those bolts. Plus you want to keep the lines away from the manifold and that becomes very hard when using banjo bolts for the coolant lines.

With 45 deg AN fittings, this is the setup I offer for the turbo setup you have.

As for the smooth turbo, I will have to ask Full-race because here is what the GT3076r David just got from me.

Yup it's a small item that makes a world of a difference.
