you are correct in saying that painting all the jams and under the hood sucks. that would be why when If/when I do it I'm only sanding the outside down spraying the pearl and reclearing the car. it will look black but in different sunlight it won't be black. Ben you order your coils yet?

I C. I thought the Alabaster white was actually going to be white. Havent ordered them yet. I have no time and still haven't started christmas shopping. I meant to yesturday but that turned into engagement ring shopping

yeah the white is just going to be a pearl coat. Not the base. I would never tear that much off my car to change the color. thats just nuts. engagement ring shopping...ummm I think your crazy

The weather is supposed to get FUN over the holidays. If you're traveling...drive safely!

I got rear-ended while driving my 4kq on Monday (the people that hit me were unlicensed, uninsured, not driving their own car, and out of their mind on heroin...no, I'm not kidding). It's still drivable, but the bumper is mashed and dangling a bit. I had to lay on the slushy muddy road and yank off the muffler and throw it in my trunk. The police liked that spectacle. :) It's going to be an ugly fight with the insurance of the owner's vehicle and I'll probably have to sue...what a pain! Be careful out there!

I'm taking the S home to Bedford tonight...hopefully the snow tires and winter wipers (thanks Eric!) will be helpful while I'm going over the mountain in Somerset!

Ben...Eric and I got the Trico Winter blades. We didn't get the Trico Teflon Winters...but the regular "Winters", and they seem to work fine! Eric ordered them from 2 different places (driver-side and passenger-side are different sizes), but if you call around, Pep Boys may have them stocked now.

Pretty sure (and an AW search confirms) it's a 22" driver, and 21" passenger. I lucked out and didn't have to do any of the leg-work ordering...Eric took care of all that. :)

No prob...call around a few places. Some had just the driver's side, others just the passenger. I'm pretty sure the Pep Boys on McKnight Road had both sizes stocked...but places like NAPA and Advance had to order them. Read the directions in order to mount the passenger side wiper...otherwise you'll feel like you need a different "connector" piece.

are the connectors different driverside to passanger side? When I changed the blades on my a4 the were both the same size and the same connection. Never even looked at the s4s though.

Hey Ben...I talked to Eric and he said that he ordered us 20 and 22 inchers and the fit is fine. AudiWorld said 22 and 21? Part of the passenger side blade doesn't fit flush against the window for the first couple of inches of travel, but then it's fine after that. Sorry for the confusion.

alright as ben and morgan know I did my timing belt yesterday and that job went off without a problem...except I broke a screwdriver in half tring to remove the front main seal. (more on that) I also had a slight problem with the timing belt crank pully see pictures. I took a few big chunks of the teeth off while trying to torque it to spec.

I got a pully off of Jr @ Jr's Waterworks. its off a 16V engine from a VW...it works like a charm for the how 15 minutes I had my car running...
Now back to that broken screwdriver...apon letting my car warm up and create pressure in the cooling system I find that the temp is at normal operating temp and keeps rising...I'm thinking "WTF" alright...got a leak in a hose or something....well I open the hood to find what appeared to be a leak from the upper rad hose and it was spraying everywhere...well thats not where the leak was...the screwdriver had bounced off the rad and put a hole in it...."fu*k" so i had to take my front end back off and take the rad out and it has to go and get fixed monday...hopefully I will have her
back on the road by wednesday

Also my trans fluid is blacker than black....umm its supposed to be red..I think I have a problem. The ATF fluid needs changed..anyone know of a shop that will do it? Sewickely won't because its "lifetime fluid" lifetime fluid my ass....plus i have transmission cooler lines that are leaking..got to get those fixed...Plus the kicker...oil in the intake trac after the trubo..I think my seals are blown..got to get sewickley to look at those before my waranty runs out.....in the 20 of this month

Why didn't they change your cam seals if you were still under warranty? Hope they get the rest fixed for you. A new turbo would be nice. If not then get a bigger one

Thanks guys. I was looking at the axis supermesh in the classifieds but they look smaller than 18s from the pics...just an illusion though. Thinking about some REs and then painting the centers black. I really want something with a polished lip and black center. But if something used comes around I like I may change my mind.

Your a paint guy...what do you think of me painting some used wheels rather than getting them powder coated? Is there anywhere around here that even does that? They can't chip that bad if i prep them good and use a good auto paint and hardner can they?

umm if I was going to paint wheels. I would prep them spray them with a base coat/clear like they do with cars and use a stronger clear. powercoating I didn't know would give you a shiny look...

Ben, I've painted wheels before. I had an old set of Speedlines off of Scott's Coupe Quattro. They were pretty beat up, so we sandblasted them, used a ton of acetone, scratch-filling primer, etc. I wanted to use Wurth paint (the OEM silver for most German cars), but it was backordered and ordered the 1Z Silber Spray, supposedly made by the same place. Then I used a clear spray from paintscratch.com. The results were OK...but powdercoating will give you way better results. I saw another 4kq with Speedlines that he had powdercoated and it was night and day. His were way smoother, whereas mine were more gritty, despite using the finest wetsandpaper between layers. Just my $.02...

the both shipped today or yesterday...so we should get them at the same time..in theory. I am waiting for my Nav+(which is enroute) and other shit...i have a lot of mods to do...anyone up for a mod day?
