Chris sent us photos of his VW Mk4 GTI which recently received a StopTech Big Brake Kit. The brake upgrade Chris chose includes a 4-piston caliper, 328x28mm slotted rotors, stainless-steel lines, and Axxis Ultimate ceramic brake pads.
The BBS CH wheels barely wrap around the larger brake calipers but they look fantastic!
Chris is a member of the Armed Forces and every now and then indulges on performance parts for his VW, even while he's stationed over-seas. We are grateful for his continued support!

Mark came in to see if we could do anything about his previous exhaust set-up - Apparently the down-pipe was bent after the car had bottomed-out. Ultimately it was determined that a replacement would be needed so Mark selected APR's full system this time around.
It will be interesting to hear back from Mark about the differences (if any) between his previous exhaust (DeCorsa) and his new APR set-up.
Jon posted up about his latest upgrade for his Imola B6 Audi S4...

I have not had a chance to take the car to an HPDE yet, but I have noticed an immediate difference coming out of the apex of a corner. Typically when youβre exiting, the car begins to under-steer; with the diff the moment you begin to under-steer the power is transferred from the front to the rear and we can neutralize some of this under-steer.
There has been no odd behavior from ESP or ABS. The only thing Iβve noticed post-diff has been some Quattro binding at low speed turning, such as in parking lots.
This modification is available for 5 and 6 speeds, manual A4/S4s.
The install was simple, expect approximately one hour for the install and reinstall. Start by disconnecting the center drive-shaft. The drive-shaft is held in by six allen key head bolts, be careful not to strip these. We heated the bolts with MAAP gas to loosen and burn off any Loctite.
Once the bolts are out, the Torsen housing can be removed, and the differential can be removed. Slide in your new unit, refill the transmission fluid (itβs shared with center diff) and you should be good to go!
I asked Corey to come in so we could borrow his B6 A4 and test-fit the Hartmann RS6-204 Wheels seeing as how the stance on his car would really set things off! The stance, car, and wheel combo did not disappoint!
Came out great! I think Corey's R8 wheels are up for sale now...
these look great!
can you get some shots on a B7???

Car Nutz Customz in Bellevue, WA brought us this 2004 Porsche Cayenne Turbo after they had installed a Fabspeed exhaust system, including down-pipes - what a monstrous roar this thing has!
This thing is a MONSTER! 440 hp and 450 lb. ft. of torque in stock form, and the APR software we're loading pushes power to an APR-claimed 493 hp and 544 lb. ft. of torque (on 93-octane). The neck-snapping power in stock form is incredible, especially considering how big and heavy this thing is. You honestly forget you're in an SUV. Car Nutz is also responsible for the 23" Rinspeed wheels this thing is sittin' on and they electronically lowered the suspension to improve the stance with it's new shoes. Rinspeed pedals concluded their interior "upgrade".
The interior comes with the usual leather, brushed aluminum, and carbon trim found in many Porsches I've seen come through here. It's nice to actually see this thing gets driven regularly! The all-suede headliner and pillars are always a nice touch (to me) considering all us VW guys are always trying to upgrade our's with the soft, plush material.
Winter wheels for the B7 Audi RS4 can be tough to find, especially in a style that would complement the high-powered European sedan. This is why Hartmann Wheels receives many winter-wheel requests from RS4 owners every season, including Greg who brought us both his B7 RS4 and his B6 S4 to receive the Hartmann HRS4-DTM-GS Wheel .
For the B7 Audi RS4 and it's beefy fenders, the new 8.5" width and 25mm offset of the Hartmann HRS4-DTM-GS Wheel makes it by far the best option in our line-up for an easy, hassle-free wheel fit and proper stance.
The Hartmann HRS4-DTMs have been a true classic for us and a style that has consistently looked good on just about every Audi or VW we fit them on. An 18" winter option makes tire choices just that much easier.
For Greg's B6 S4, the 38mm offset is selected since the stock fenders are nowhere near that of the RS4, still in an 18x8.5 though.
The winter weather is just around the corner! Get ahead of the weather and contact us for your VW or Audi winter-wheel set-up!

Colin left us his VW Mk5 GTI yesterday to be our second local GTI to run APR's RSC Exhaust System . Installation is a breeze as fitment is spot-on and the sound-increase is noticeable more outside then inside thanks to APR's exclusive Resonance Sound Cancellation technology.
It's a great looking GTI! Colin meticulously carried out the plaid-pattern from his seats to the interior trim using vinyl and over-lapping each "stripe" evenly throughout. Other noticeable mods include a Neuspeed P-Flo intake in red which was a fantastic contrast against the carbon fiber engine cover. Then there was the OSIR carbon fiber upper hatch spoiler and black O.Z. Ultraleggeras contrasting from the white paint that really help this GTI stand-out from the typical European hot hatch found driving the streets of Seattle. I know from my own personal experience as I spotted this car approaching me from the other direction a few days ago and it was unmistakably a modified VW.
This likely is not the last we'll be seeing of Colin and we look forward to seeing him and his GTI again!
He had contacted me about a month ago talking about the different things he wanted to do to his B7 Audi S-Line A4 Avant. He had settled on some Hartmann HRS4-252-SS wheels in a 19x8.5" size and 38mm offset. We sent the wheels wrapped with Dunlop Sport Maxx tires in a 235/35-19 properly mounted and balanced so Andrew would be able to bolt the new wheels to his car immediately after opening the packaging. He was kind enough to send us the pictures he took with the new wheels.
To improve the stance and handling, Andrew called us back to order up a set of STaSIS Streetsport Coil-overs , a pair of H&R 8mm spacers , and an OEM RS4 rear sway bar we picked up from Barrier Audi. He also added the Carbonio Cold Air Intake to the order and we heard the items safely reached the tropics. We look forward to more updates and progress pictures from Andrew as this Avant progresses into one mean grocery getter!

STaSIS Engineering (thank you Jason) is giving everyone a sneak-peak at the parts currently being developed for the Audi R8. Pictured above and featured in the video is their new exhaust system currently in testing. STaSIS Engineering is about 30-days away from debuting exhaust, brake, and suspension upgrades for Audi's 4.2FSI R8.

Mark and Carrie sent us these FANTASTIC pictures they took while traveling through Yosemite National Park. Perhaps this will start a trend with all our customers and friends while they travel the world with Achtuning Gear. Send your βAchtouringβ pictures to us and weβll feature them here!
With STaSIS just about a month away from releasing their exhaust package for the Audi R8, the anticipation here at Achtuning is just agonizing! Donβt forget to take advantage of APRβs Winter Sale - For more information please contact us!
Sam (eurotuner) sent me one of his latest shots of the VW Mk4 GTI 1.8T he drives - Sam picked up our Hartmann G5 Wheels last season and has been using H&R 5x100 to 5x112 adapters to fit the 19x8 audi-fitment wheels.
I love seeing the OEM+ Hartmann wheels on customers clean looking cars. This spring I will be in the market for a set of wheels and tires for my B6. I am attracted to the 19" A5 S-Line wheel and am researching measurements and appearance. I want the wheel to sit flush with the wheel well arches. Does Achtuning offer size suggestions or have any pictures? Do you have this wheel for sale? Thanks!

Currently, there are no plans to bring in that style wheel. (This is the one w/ what I consider a "scissor-look" spoke?) And many of the 19" wheels on our B6s and B7s are 8.5" wide with a 38mm offset - aggressive compared to stock but still room to space out some if you want to get even more "flush" with your fenders...
Creativity (and maybe boredom?) can get the best of us sometimesβ¦ Remember when I mentioned it would be cool if Mark and Carrieβs pictures would start an β Achtouring β trend? Well, this just takes βAchtouringβ with Achtuning Gear to a whole new levelβ¦
Nick was itching for a new look to his Zender-equipped Mk5 GTI. At the recommendation of Ryan@FineTuning , he stopped by to take a gander at our wheel display so he could get an up-close-and-personal look at his options. He also had his heart set on some Pirelli P-Zero Nero tires to wrap around a set of 19" wheels. Once the Hartmann HRS4-252-SS was selected, we suggested that he order in a set of 225/35-19s from Tire Rack and we'd take care of the mounting and balancing since he was buying wheels from us - all he had to do was let us know when to expect tires and we were pretty much all set.
Well, tires arrived and an appointment was set up to get wheels installed - but that wasn't enough! Nick knew that throwing on a set of 19s would in fact change the look to his car, but he wasn't completely convinced that wheels-only would do the trick, especially after checking out a few cars in our gallery. At the last minute, Nick pulled the trigger and asked us to throw on some STaSIS Streetsport Coilovers while we were at it. Likely a good decision in the end, as Nick's GTI is now sittin' proper on our 19x8.5 wheels.
Congrats, Nick! (and thanks Ryan!!) Be sure to come back when we have some daylight to snap more pictures - especially after you complete the kit. ;)

APR has announced availability of select B7 A4 Stage 3 Turbo Kits for the 2.0T FSI, model years 2005.5-2006 US Specification Only!
Dyno graphs provided by APR were generated in-house or at an independent testing facility. The Engine Power numbers are derived from multiple runs on their in-house Dynapack All-Wheel Drive Dynamometer averaged to mean values to include the highest and lowest power achievement.
The following two graphs were generated on a Dynojet All Wheel Drive Dynamometer at an independent tuner shop for actual wheel power.
APR's Stage 3 produces 375hp and 352 lb ft of torque at 20psi of turbocharger pressure. All oem safety features are left intact and all oem or teir 1 supplier stress tolerances are met or exceeded. Each component included in the APR Stage 3 is designed for the rated operating conditions produced by the Stage 3 and will provide many of years of reliable operation and enjoyment.
APR's Stage 3 Turbocharger System includes every nut, bolt and gasket necessary to the installation. Boost delivery and intake piping and hoses are cast aluminum or wire reinforced multi-ply silicon designed specifically to the application.
APR recommends a front mounted intercooler, performance exhaust system and Carbonio Carbon Fiber Airbox for best results.
Each Stage 3 will include a new plate for Carbonio's Carbon Fiber Airbox for fitment of the Stage 3 MAF housing and may not mate to the oem airbox or other aftermarket intake systems.
APR recommends an upgraded clutch for manual transmission vehicles and makes no claims to the durability of CVT and Tiptronic transmissions when used in conjunction with the Stage 3. APR's Stage 3 exceeds the OEM ratings for power handling capabilities and it is at the purchasers beware to choose to install an APR Stage 3 on a vehicle which is not equipped with an upgraded transmission.
APR is currently developing a front mounted intercooler solution to offer as a standalone product and to complement the Stage 3. Projected release is February of 2009. Any aftermarket intercooler currently offered seems of sufficient capability to work in conjunction with the Stage 3 and if the intercooler fits with a stock turbocharger compressor exit hose it will work with the Stage 3. If the competitorβs intercooler replaces the oem turbocharger compressor exit hose, fitment may or may not be possible.
The Stage 3 is offered with or without a high pressure fuel pump but is required for operation. Some clients may have previously purchased the pump as a standalone product thus the pricing offer without the pump.
The ecu upgrade is accomplished and available for all 2005.5-2006 model year US Specification B7 A4 2.0T FSIβs. 2007+ model year B7 A4βs will be accomplished in the next 3-6 weeks. European Spec availability will occur in first or second quarter of 2009.
The Stage 3 is not equipped with a catalyst and includes a testpipe to connect to any exhaust system that is 2.5β in diameter and mates to the oem catalyst pipe.
Mark disliked the fact the Oettinger RE Wheels on his Audi S4 showed-off too much of the blank brake discs behind them. When the opportunity presented itself, Mark chose StopTech's Stage 2 Brake Kit, consisting of OE-sized drilled rotors, PosiQuiet Brake Semi Metallic Pads, and stainless-steel braided brake lines.
Once installation was complete, it was easy to see the aesthetic difference the new brake discs made. Better wet and dry braking performance can be expected thanks to the cross-drilling of the rotors and brake feel is greatly improved with the help of the stainless-steel lines.
It was a sad day when we learned the Mesh 305s were no longer going to be available. Bill (the owner) wasn't going to give up though and after quite some time, we were able to source the original mold and get it to our current manufacturer for production.
... And now, back from the dead!!
* Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors can also be purchased for an additional $225 for a set of 4 with your Hartmann Wheel purchase.
* All online orders will reflect list pricing. Prices will be adjusted internally once your order is processed.
* Wheels are in stock, ready to ship!

Winter weather wontβ stop a hard-core dubber from picking up a new set of Hartmann Wheels!
I called Ryan, our first VW Mk5 2.0T TSI customer as it was time to update his APR-tuned ECU with a stock file that was recently released by APR . Since the ECU upgrade and H&R suspension install that was completed this last Fall, Ryan has been itching to do something new to the GTI and he sure wasnβt going to let harsh winter conditions stop him! He had been eying the Hartmann Evolution R5 Wheels for quite some time, and after a few seconds of holding the wheels up to his car yesterday, he made an appointment for install this morning.
Brand new TPM Sensors and all-season Falken 912s in a 225/40-18 were mounted and balanced, then thrown on the car within an hour. The transformation was more than enough to put a smile on Ryan's face and satisfy the"mod-bug" he caught. We both knew the bronze finish on the Evolution R5s would set the car off just right.
In the coming months, we expect Ryan back as he has expressed interest in APR's RSC turbo-back exhaust system. We also hear a StopTech BBK might also be planned later to fill the blank space now left behind the open-face design of the Evolution R5s. We'll of course keep you posted with the results.

It's certainly not often we would expect a VW Eos to come through. We've actually chipped this particular Eos 2.0T with APR software last Fall so it was good to see it back. But top it off with the fact the couple who owns this Eos found a set of our Hartmann Mesh 305s in the classifieds to throw on the car made this quite the photo opportunity!
I hear suspension is planned for the car which will really improve the over-all stance as it sits just above the 19x8.5 Hartmann Mesh 305 Wheels. Perhaps we'll get that chance this Spring.
An old friend stopped by to show off his new car, quite the step-up from a VW Mk5 Jetta GLI. I was happy for him but so envious at the same time!! Already sporting a custom cat-back from Performance Exhaust in Algona, WA this BMW e92 M3 rumbles like no other V8 on the Seattle streets!
Just sharing some recent pictures we took of Alex's B6 A4 1.8T Quattro since he stopped by for a visit (Thanks for the chocolates!!). This K04-equipped 1.8T has a menacing look with it's black-on-black appearance completed with black powder-coated Hartmann Forged Split-7 Wheels.
The Hartmann Forged Split-7 Wheels are 19x8 with an aggressive 32mm offset which brings the wheels closer to the fender's edge. He's got Dunlop Direzza DZ-101 tires wrapping the wheels in a 245/35-19. Now we just need to get him into (at least) a set of STaSIS Streetsports!
