When Jose came to us in July to pick up a set of Hartmann HR8-GS:M Wheels and Bridgestone tires, we had asked him to return once the H&R springs we sold him ended up on the car with its new stance so we could take pictures... As promised, here is how she sits now - such an improvement!
Jose was experimenting with the look of a color-matched rear valence and now that he likes the look, he has an appointment scheduled with his body shop to get the sides and front valences painted to match as well.

There are very few differences between the 2008 and 2009 VW Mk5 GTI but the most noticeable difference is found under the hood. VW's TSI motor is the latest revision over the previous FSI version and differs slightly in that it is timing chain driven as opposed to having a timing belt.
With the Fall Season starting here in the Pacific Northwest, this Audi S8 was brought in this morning after Blizzak tires were delivered the other day from Tire Rack. This customer is thinking ahead and getting prepared for winter driving conditions, and considering his current tires were nearing the tread wear indicator it probably wasn't a bad idea.
In order to keep the over-all look of the car the same with the factory Audi S8 wheel, 19" Hartmann S8-454 wheels had been selected to replace the stock 20" version during the winter season and it was clear the similarity in wheel style would suit our customer.
And finally with the wheels on, it was almost as if we never even touched the car...
And in an attempt to get a little more acquainted with the D3 S8, some pictures of the different eye-catching features...

2-tone interior with wood-grain and brushed accents, not to mention the all-suede headliner and pillars...
New wheels are due in on this next container including the all-new RS6-style wheel, an anthracite version of our Hartmann 252-RS4 wheel, and our Hartmann DTM style wheel in a new width of 8.5". Once we have our own pictures of these wheels we'll be sure to share them with you.
It didn't take much to make Ariel's B7 Audi S-Line A4 to get from this...

As common as an "RS4-style" wheel is on an A4, it doesn't seem to get old. The ever-popular STāSIS Streetsport coil-over kit completed the subtle transformation making the A4 into a "classy" head-turner.
Ariel had a set of Pirelli tires sent to us from Tire Rack in a 245/35-19, the larger of the two commonly chosen tire sizes for 19" wheels on the B7 A4. When Ariel mentioned interest in the Hartmann 252 , a 42mm offset in a 19x8.5 was suggested rather than the more common 38mm version.
APR software, a STāSIS exhaust system, and Carbonio Intake also pep-up this A4 a bit. In fact the exhaust system alone helped us sell another set-up to a customer visiting us for an APR re-burn. (Thanks Ariel!)
Apparently this is just the start for this A4 as more modifications are planned for the near future. Can't wait to what's in store for it.

Mark stopped by with his S-Line A4 getting his ECU "reflashed" due to a dealer update that wiped out his APR software. While here he was trying to decide between a suspension upgrade (STāSIS Streetsports) or a STāSIS exhaust system as his next upgrade.
Turns out, Ariel was here picking up her B7 A4 S-Line from us after we installed suspension, wheels, and tires, and since her car is equipped with the STāSIS exhaust he was able to get an idea of what sound to expect.
Well, it probably didn't help that he stopped by on the first day of launching our Achtoberfest Sale. 30-minutes later, we had his car pulled in around back and began installation. I'm not sure if I should congratulate him or apologize! =P

Everyone always asks, "Whats a blem?".
• The majority of these wheels have small cosmetic imperfections which won't pass our quality control, typically dust in the paint or a pinhole in the paint finish 1-3mm in size.
• Some have only had tires mounted and dismounted and are in perfect condition but can't be sold as new. (these are the best deal obviously)
• Some have minor shipping damage, light box rash or small scrapes.
• A small amount have scratches or scrapes that can be seen from over 3 feet away, these are on the deepest discount.
Pictures of said blems are available on request. Some of these sets are mixed blems and brand new wheels to make a set.

A late arriving shipment (5:00pm) meant we were gonna be in for a rather late evening unloading 800+ wheels from our recent container. We've been anticipating the arrival of some new Hartmann Wheel styles.
With an unusual quick pace, we were able to unload the entire container in just over 2 and a half hours, over-filling warehouse capacity.
One of the very new Hartmann Wheel styles we are excited to introduce is the all-new Hartmann HRS6-204-GS Wheel. It's a unique multi-split 5-spoke design.
This style is being offered with a 5x112 bolt pattern in 18x8 with 32 and 20mm offsets, and 19x8.5 with 38 and 25mm offsets. These wheels also clear most big brake kits.
We are still offering the Hartmann HRS6-172-GS wheel and have brought in that style in an 18x8, 32mm offset - aggressive but fits most applications and also has clearance for most big brake applications.
The Hartmann HRS4-252 Wheel isn't new to us, however this new anthracite/machined finish is definitely something we haven't offered yet. This new finish offers a touch more class to an already classy wheel.
The difference between the Hartmann HRS4-252-SS and the new Hartmann HRS4-252M ("M" for machined obviously) is very subtle, but different enough to differentiate between the two...
The Hartmann RS4-252-GA:M is offered only in a 19x8.5 size and 38mm offset and is listed at $265 per wheel.
Remember our Hartmann HRS4-DTM? The continuing style has been brought in a half-inch wider at 8.5 in the 18" diameter. The 18x8.5 is offered with a 38mm offset as well as a 25mm for the new B8 chassis.
Updates are being made to the Achtuning Online Catalog as I type this. We will bring in a few customer cars to test-fit some of our new wheels and we'll update our posts and gallery with pictures as they become available.

She had her beautiful white B6 A4 dropped off this morning to receive an APR turbo-back exhaust. APR's full stainless-steel exhaust system is currently 15% off during our Achtoberfest Sale which put the price of the upgrade with installation just over the price of the exhaust at full price!
So first thing's first, out with the old:
We all know the car already looks sharp, but the new 3.5" rolled and stainless-steel exhaust tips help tie in the polished lips of her Lexion wheels, LED tails, and Audi trunk badge.
The last container from Italy brought us the Hartmann HS5-209-GA:M Wheel in 19x8.5 and a 38mm offset - this allows us to fit the wheel on vehicles like the B5, B6, and B7 A4s and S4s, C5 A6s, B5 Passats, and a few others...
The B7 A4 below was brought to us for a STaSIS Streetsport Suspension upgrade and Jake had waited for the container's arrival so he could be the first to have the HS5 wheels on his A4. We couldn't be happier with the results!!

Yet another STaSIS Streetsport installation that was waiting for the arrival of our latest container... Ryne had an interest in some of our 19" wheels but wasn't quite sure without seeing them in person which set-up to go with, especially with news about a container arriving from Italy with a few new styles.
After installing the STaSIS coil-over kit on his B6 A4, Ryne had us install our latest Hartmann hRS4-252-GA:M , the machined version of the split-seven spoke RS4 style wheel. The deeper-colored pockets and wheel barrel make the face of the wheel "pop". 19x8.5 and a 38mm offset is the size available to fit the B6 A4 and the stance is just about right!

This white B8 A4 stopped by... Unfortunately APR hadn't released software for the B8 A4 2.0T yet so we'll expect to see this car back in about a month or so when software is expected to be ready.
Not very often you see one of these... That is unless I'm not looking. :P
James brought us his B6 A4 cabriolet to pick out a set of wheels. After a few visits to our showroom over the last few months for ECU and injector upgrades, it was determined today that the Hartmann HRS4-252-GA:M would be his next weapon of choice for his B6 A4, 19x8.5 et38 to be exact. We wrapped them with Dunlop Sport Maxx tires in 235/35-19 and we're all pretty happy with the results!
( ^ probably should've cleaned off that tire. =P)

Snow season is not far off and it's time to change those 19s out to some dedicated winter tires to ensure you have traction when you need it most. Konrad brought in his B6 S4 to change out his 19" Forged Hartmann DTM-7s to a set of 17" Hartmann HRS6-172-GS wheels with Dunlop snow tires.
The 19" DTM-7s look great on Konrads Grey S4, the Bridgestone RE-750s are a decent tire for rain use but not recommended for snow which we do get a bit of around here.
The Hartmann Forged wheels have been very popular on the B6 and B7 S4s due to their combination of light weight and high strength. The aggressive ET32 offset of the forged wheels pushes the face of the wheel right to the edge of the fender without rubbing.
Konrad has the smaller A4 sport style center caps, the Hartmann forged wheels will accept a variety of OEM Audi center caps. These were finished in a custom Porsche grey finish, Hartmann offers the wheels in either a polished or flat black powder coated finish.
Konrad took advantage of our Achtoberfest sale to save a bit on the 172-HC wheels. He ordered in the Dunlop snow tires through our link to Tire Rack for free mounting and balancing and since he’s local he saved on sales tax on the tires as well. The same center cap and lug caps that were used on the forged wheels were transferred over to the 172-HCs and he was all set!
The Hartmann HRS6-172-GS is available in 17″, 18″ AND 19", the 17X8.0″ ET35 version was chosen for winter usage.
Hartmann designed these wheels to be able to fit Audis with large brakes which other wheels may not fit. The 172-GS can use an OEM Audi centercap which we have available for $99-set, a nice savings from dealer costs.

With all this "winter-prep" going on, I felt I wanted one last run of summer styling before the incoming cold weather meant it would be best to run an all-season wheel and tire. I took the "winter set-up" BBS RCs off the Golf and mounted these Porsche design Hartmann 367 wheels.
As with most of the Porsche-specific styles offered, the Hartmann 367 is staggered, running 18x8 up front and 18x10 in the rear. H&R DRA Adapters were used to mount the 5x130 Porsche bolt pattern to the 5x100 Volkswagen hub, 20mm up front and 30mm for the rear. With rolled fenders I can run up to a 30mm adapter to really push out the wheel and even the amount of "poke" to match the rear.
Since the car is lowered with STaSIS Streetsport Coil-Overs , and a 10" wheel isn't the customary width to run on the back of a VW Mk4, smaller tires were mounted to ensure fender clearance resulting in a "stretched" look. Now this small of a tire is really pushing the limits and is not recommended for most, but with proper installation and tire pressure monitoring, there will not be any issues whatsoever running this set-up.

I asked Corey to come in so we could borrow his B6 A4 and test-fit the Hartmann HRS6-204-GS Wheels seeing as how the stance on his car would really set things off! The stance, car, and wheel combo did not disappoint!
Came out great! I think Corey's HR8 wheels are up for sale now...

Got a chance to get an up-close and personal look at the B8 Audi S5 today...
What a gorgeous car!! Ian brought us his S5 as he is looking to pick up a set of 18s for the up-coming winter season. We sat down with him and worked out some good numbers and will await for his winter tires to arrive from Tire Rack before we can update you with his winter-wheel look. We are also working out a deal on some Ohlins coil-overs and our Hartmann S5-209 wheel by the time Spring arrives. In the meantime, my up-close-and-personal pictures of the S5 as I got to know it a bit more...
Fantastic interior with the red leather, brushed aluminum, and carbon fiber accent pieces!!
Brushed aluminum accents are also carried on outside the car, with front and rear valence splitters and brushed mirror covers.
Ian also has European headlight and tail light assemblies on order that we will help him install, the rears I assume will be upgraded to an LED version.
We're still waiting for the release of engine upgrades for the S5 other than an exhaust by STaSIS Engineering. We'll update our website with more performance parts for the S5 as they become available. In the meantime, not a bad-lookin' stock engine bay to look at...
Stay tuned for more updates to Ian's S5 when he comes in for winter wheels and spacers some time next week!
Justin rolled through to pick up one of three remaining sets of 19x8 et32 TSW Volcano Wheels we have in stock. With a clearance price of $419 for the 19" wheels (that's for the set!!) and $600 for tires with free mounting and balancing, this is by far our cheapest 19" wheel and tire package we offer, and there are only two more sets left!
The 32mm offset is about as aggressive as we'll typically take it on an A4. As you'll notice the front and rear profiles of Justin's car, you can see how such a low offset significantly changes the over-all stance of the car and makes for that nice, aggressive look most of us are going for - excluding a suspension drop of course which Justin has planned for the near future.
Jason drove down from Vancouver, BC in his B7 Audi S4 on his way to this weekend's Quattrofest 2008 event in Portland, Oregon. Prior to his track event though, he stopped here at Achtuning to purchase the STāSIS Ohlins SL Sport Suspension and Alcon Monobloc 4 - 355 Big Brake System to improve the handling and braking characteristics of his already well-performing S4 and enhance his track experience.
Stock B7 S4 suspension performs well but as Jason is an avid track enthusiast, the STāSIS Ohlins SL Sport Suspension would offer quicker reaction times and stability when cornering at high speeds, all the while retaining stock-like comfort for daily street driving. And certainly braking could not be left alone as Jason prefers to wait for the very last possible moment before standing on the brakes and carrying out his high-speed turns on the track. The Alcon 4-piston calipers surrounding 355mm slotted rotors will give him the right amount of balanced braking power and heat dissipation for confident, last-second braking.

Another set of the Hartmann HS5-209-GA:M Wheels ended up on a D3 A8L. Immediately after taking delivery of his new car at University Audi, Gregg drove over to have us install his wheels, everything of course pre-arranged during vehicle purchase.
At 20x9" with a 25mm offset, the final stance has greatly improved from the factory stance!

Despite the rain and early arrival of darkness these days, we were still able to get Mario's Work VS-XX wheels on for him. The anticipation of seeing the final outcome was overwhelming so we even decided to go out for an informal 'shoot' on our way home...
At 19x8.5" all around, these Work VS-XX wheels fill the fenders of this Mk5 GLI perfectly and Mario didn't have to do a single thing to change his original stance since careful measuring had ensured proper fitment. A final offset of 45mm was selected to maximize the lip on a high-offset requiring Mk5 yet push the face of the wheels out as close to the fender as possible without any tire-to-fender contact issues.
Mario took some of his own pictures during the shoot, most of which can be found in his testimonial (and fantastic write-up!!) but I like his photography style and wanted to share his pictures here with you as well.

So I met up with Mario (owner of the Jetta above) this last weekend for another photoshoot - it's still raining here in the PacNW but this particular parking garage offers much better lighting. Anywho, just wanted to show off those pictures...
Mark stopped by to show off the new finish on his "winter" set-up... These are Hartmann New Turbo wheels in 18x8 and a 35mm offset. Mark had picked these up last year but decided to rattle-can them black for this winter season - a far improvement from the previous look that goes well with Mark's smoked theme.

Weston from Car Domain came by to get his Rieger'd out Mk5 GTI tuned with APR software.
Stock, 91-octane, and 93-octane programs were loaded to the ECU. The 91-octane program for the Mk5 GTI produces an APR-claimed 246 crank hp and 282 lb./ft. of torque... 252 and 303 respectively on 93-octane which Weston can expect to try out in the event he cruises up north into Canada where 94-octane is more commonly found. Expect a feature on Car Domain blog about their Mk5 GTI project build-up!
