well, some devastating news. I was planning on putting on the Works after several months of talking about it, but i finally gave it a trial fit and found that they won't clear my B6 s4 brakes. Therefore, if i want to put them on, i'd have to redrill them and run a 3mm spacer to clear the brakes. le sigh...oh well, i guess that's that.
I did get a chance to mod a little bit though, and picked up nine1twoinc's (John's) old A-pillar gauge pod. He hooked me up with the passenger side too since they were wrapped in black fabric ala S-Line euro style.
It's much better than having the boost gauge flopping around in the corner like it used to...it just took a little while to get it in there.
A lot of my modding has slowed down primarily because of the arrival of a newborn and fixing all the random things in the house. I can now see the benefits of renting again...anyways, i've been busy clearing up the garage, but it's getting there. This was also the main reason for my buying the house, the extended garage and driveway was a definite bonus.
room for the cars and a work area!
I'm hoping i can get rid of these works soon so i can get something that'll fit and ride the car in the style it deserves...
haha Thanks Vin. Luckily for me, the wheels sold for what i was asking, so i can't complain on my part.
I have listed the car for sale in the classifieds to see if i can get an enthusiast to take over the reigns on her. We'll see though, I may just buy another set of wheels and fall in love and take down the ad again.
Ad has been taken down! I can't stand to part ways with her; i'll figure something out later down the road, but I enjoy driving the a4 too much to sell it.
I'm wheel shopping again, but with a baby on the way, low-balling seems to be my only tool in my chest...hopefully I'll find another diamond in the rough soon...
9.30.09 - day before my bday, i have the fortune of rear-ending a lady who decided to slam her brakes in oncoming traffic.
Luckily my insurance covered myself, the other driver, and handed me a check for $4,900 to repair the vehicle. I know I shouldn't be surprised, but holy crap, these parts were expensive! I needed a new hood, bumper, passenger headlight, grille, front clip, radiator fan/shroud, AC condenser, radiator, and all the accessories.
So I decided to take the opportunity to get the car resprayed and get a couple things done to finish off the exterior. I took it to a local body shop that came highly recommended to me and so far, they've been more than accomodating to my needs. I'll be sure to list them as a referred shop as soon as I see my car upon completion.
nah, I worked out a deal with the body shop to cover my deductible and get a full respray instead of blending if i brought in a new bumper on my own. I just took the opportunity to match up the sideskirts for the new bumper and get the roof spoiler I've been wanting for awhile now.
It doesn't help that we have a lot of extra bills to take care of this month either...

I hear ya man! We'll good luck with all the troubles. Car "looked" great before so I am excited for the final results after re-spray.

A little update...it's taking a little longer than originally anticipated due to the inordinate amount of work that came from the fiberglass bumper. Although I was able to get the bumper at a discount, the amount of man-hours required to make it look reasonable far outweighed it's benefits.
BIG BIG Thumbs up to Desert Inn Auto Body for literally polishing a turd. the lines on this bumper matched up horribly and had tons of waves, but they were able to salvage it to look proper.
Hoping to pick her up either tomorrow or Tuesday. The roof spoiler came in from Parts4vws.com and they had a great special going on for legitimate Caractere parts. Update to come following a shoot!
Went down there Tuesday and found that the car was resprayed and they were in the process of polishing and buffing it out
I was supposed to pick it up today, but they took a long time polishing the rest of the body and making sure it was absolutely clean. I can't complain though, because they were serious about making sure the car was good to go. Unfortunately i didn't bring the DSLR with me so i'm stuck with iphone picts
They discovered that the car had a rough idle and wouldn't really run right and noticed that my turbo outlet pipe had a big crack through the hard-pipe. I was pretty surprised it caused such an issue, but they're getting it up on the lift to fix it tomorrow morning. It then goes in for an AC recharge and i'm supposed to be picking it up in the afternoon.
I've got my fingers crossed...i just want to drive the car again...
So i got to the shop and they had 5 dudes working on the car
they had just finished polishing it up and it was looking good:
I picked up a Caractere roof spoiler to complement the rear since i'd always wanted one, but i wasn't sure how much i'd like it considering the multiple colors, but i'm glad i did it
Yea, i just found that out Monday :( It resets on the 13th, so hold tight! I don't know where my photo's are pulling this bandwidth, so i may have to do some hunting...
I've been lagging...for good reason. Our kid was born on 12.29.2009 at 7lbs flat, 20" and has consumed most (if not all) my time since. He's a pretty cool dude, always seducing the ladies!
So, besides not having any money for mods, I've been stuck in a boat with just making sure that the audi stays running. With 85k miles coming up and the front end making some wicked clunking noises, I hopped on the FCP Groton GB for the control arm kit. The car had been misfiring and had a real bad idle, so I decided with everything else going on, I might as well do a full service; NGK BKR6E-iX, new Coil Packs from the recall, fresh oil change and a good washing.
Also got hooked up with some OEM jack blocks from Jordan (CO_Avant) and was finally able to get the car in the air without worrying. I had to drive up on a few 2x4's before hand, but definitely worked out better than before
I only got to the basic maintenance this weekend before time ran out, but more to come as i install the Control Arm/TRE kit later this week!
This is a step away from my previous wheels, but all along in trying something different :) Going to be running 225/30/20 all around to give mild stretch and give me the option of 3-5mm spacers if i feel like getting aggressive.

well, it's about time i actually gave you something to look at!
picked up a set of rubbers, but it's been so long since i've ran low-profile tires that these tires seem UBER skinny. I just hope that I can keep them pretty!
