I want to connect an iPhone to my car to listen to my music while on the drive but I'm unsure of which one is better overall, please share your experience, thanks!!
i have neither but i've heard that the stock one has terrible interfacing with the car and you can only choose from your top 6 playlists or something. the DICE one allows you to view your artists and songs as well, i believe.

I have an Alpine W-205 head unit and it works pretty well with iPods. I love it, especially since I had the old Symphony II and a tape adapter to hook up to my mp3 player. I am running the newest Nano at 8g. You can also burn a data DVD with mp3s on it, for massive amounts of music. I switch between the iPod, with all the current music, and the DVDs, with all the archived stuff.
The new Alpine head unit, the W-505, is awesome. It'll play iPod video and shows the covers of the albums.
If you're willing to spend the money, I'd say that the best option is to get an after-market headunit.
if you dont have factory bluetooth, then id save the money and put it towards a new headunit as sugfgested above. that way you get all the features you want.
How to sell an item in the classifieds:
10% off- Brand new in box from authorized retailer on special
20% off- New, never used, private seller, box optional
30% off- Used but in great condition, all parts present
40% off- used, may be damaged or missing parts
50% off+ Handyman's ''dream''

I was also thinking of this posibility, I understand I'll loose controling the radio thru wheel buttons if I install an aftermarket unit I'll have NAV, DVD, BT + iPod which is a big plus but becomes a more expensive mod and I'm short on cash, I think I can probably survive with just a BT earpiece and iPhone docked to HU to listen music, in that case like Eukafman said I'm better off with a DICE kit, it's that right?

How much will cost to upgrade my Symphony II+ to an aftermarket radio with all these features? what radio you guys recommend on the $400 range?
The stock IPod navigation in my 08 is a total POS and pain in the ass. But...its better then nothing for stock and I do like how they integrated it cleanly into the glove box.
They generally sell for between 1100 and 1400. From what I have seen on here and on Ebay.
Its nice and all to have a clean stock NAV put in but with the same money I think you could get something nicer with more gadgets, too bad I don't have the money! for me I think I might have to stick to the low budget solution like the DICE kit and the iPhone dock mod.

You can keep the iPod in the glovebox with the DICE unit as well, and there is no playlist limitation either.

I'd say go for the DICE which I recently installed in my S4.
Can you switch songs, playlist, etc.. from your wheel controls? I have a Phatbox in the garage that I had on my previous B6 and that was really nice but couldn't find the cable to connect to my Symphony II+ and now I need to get something to listen to my MP3's, FM is driving me crazy!!!!
Its a proclip mount from http://proclipusa.com and it basically wedges in place with the help of some double sided tape for easy removal. No drilling, and holds in place pretty good.

Yes, you can switch songs and playlists from the steering wheel among other things. Basically, the function of the steering wheel controls changes depending on what CD your "playing" out of th 6 disks in the CD changer. The first disk is song, the second disk it playlist I believe. You can scroll through albums and artists as well, but I don't know all the details because I haven't read the manual.
Good choice on the DICE, the oem ipod integration sucks major ass. Have to pull the ipod out of the glove box to change artist. Making me have to open and close my already broken glovebox more. Its just a pain.
Bump for a question....I'm on tapatalk so limited search obviously...
Does anyone know if the dice kit is compatible with any head unit? Right now i just have the base symphony. Can the dice kit connect to just the base symphony? And I haven't decided if I'm upgrading to the RNSE or a pioneer head unit but just curios to see if the dice would be compatible with all those 3 mentioned?
Only thing I am seeing is your car has to have satellite radio in order to hook up the Dice kit.

Ya I read that, so I guess it will hook up to the reg symphony. Obviously it will hook up to RNSE, but still haven't seen anything definite on if the same kit hooks up to an aftermarket pioneer ...

Exactly what he said, the factory ipod integration was a great idea especially with it hidden in the glove box. However the idea was poorly executed to say the least, your control over th ipod is just about useless. You have to take the ipod out everytime you want to actually select a song.

If it supports satellite radio it should work - worst case you can ask the Dice professionals.
