Here are pics of the completed engine bay after I rerouted some lines. Still have some cleaning and detailing to do.

Agreed, but you need to do something with all the oil/coolant lines.

Re: Putting the engine back together

Looks good Winston, maybe a longer coolant line so you can go around the front of the timing belt cover instead of over the valve cover. Please explain the lifter tick?

Re: Putting the engine back together

Well the boys at Blitz like to use short lines for the coolant so that is what you see. The other lines on the left are pretty much overkill for what they do.

Liter tick? Well do you guys have this 'tik-tik-tik-tik' sound when you pop open the hood? Well I'm told this is lifter tick and I can hear it a tiny bit inside the cabin.

I hear that sound as well. Thought it was the cp's and injectors though...

Re: Putting the engine back together

I hear the same thing. The noise is my fuel injectors. They are more noticeable after a few hours of driving versus first start-up. I'm on 630cc injectors.

Re: Putting the engine back together

I didn't think the injectors made that much noise so that is why I thought it was the lifters.

Re: Putting the engine back together

Put a long screwdriver on the VC then the injectors to verify where the noise is coming from.

Re: Putting the engine back together

I have a silly question guys. As far as putting new rods and pistons in. Are you able to do it with your car jacked up? As in, pull off the pan, pull the old ones out and put the new ones in? I have done most of everything on a car but pull the engine apart past the valves and cams. Thanks. :)

Re: Putting the engine back together

yes you can. IDK about the B6 platform, but on the B5 platform you have to take the subframe off to have full access to the oil pan bolts.
Take the head off, oil pan off. and then you can pull the pistons/rods.

yes but its not worth it IMO, you can be much more accurate and get more done with the engine out
