I just picked up a thule 1600 gloss black on CL for $200 in mint condition, took me a few months of looking but well worth the wait. pics coming soon also
i ride in the city too much to not have a brake; so many situations where cars pull out, dont signal, etc. or even if you are going down a hill at a decent pace and then light turns yellow.
i dont want to start an arguement over this, but for me it makes sense to have a brake. if you dont want to run one, no one is forcing you to, but dont come crying when you cant stop fast enough and get hit.
same here-
i live in michigan, we dont have fixie/messenger man/hater fights over here, we just ride bikes to get exercise and to enjoy the outdoors.
i have a 3yr old that likes to ride his small bike and me with gears/lack of breaks do me no good.
i love how everybody is all about bike wars now, whats cool, whats not....anyone with one gear should be dressing in rags and skimming taxis in NYC with drawing tubes on their backs.
i had a fixie when i was 9 back in 84' before quicksliver and kevin bacon was doing endo's in dance studios for ass. i was jumping bmx bikes in the sliverdome for team hutch....i invented the fixie bike for the first karate kid movie, when ralph was getting his ass kicked by skeletons......
yet. mf's have opinions about what.....? please dont get me started,

Just got the same thing for $300. Basically brand new Black Atlantis 1600. The guy had only used it once. I looked for about 2 months before I found one; and for ~$250 off retail, I'm pretty damn happy with it. Will have to grab some pics later on.

Yakima bars with Yakima Skybox 12. iirc, I have 56" bars, so I can use both the box & a Big Powderhound for the big ski trips
08 Passat wagon 2.0T 6MT (APR Stage I, DriverGear-Eibach springs, Bilstein Sport, Euro smoked tails, intake, ATE Premium One rotors, Hawk HPS, Tyrolsport Caliper Guide Bushings, other stuff)
Fits perfect imo, I was going to get the Skybox 12s but went with the 16s because the other was sold out. Glad I did because we packed that baby full to the brim. I like the 12 or 16 (they are both about the same length) because they fit on our roof perfectly without window overhang.
i have an evolution 1600 as well and in my opinion, thats the size to get. Fits perfect just behind the windshield and clears the hatch. I am not a fan of the overhang at all but i guess some of you guys need the length. It just looks like it doesnt fit. If you can find one of the carbon fiber 1600's or even the more rare colored ones, that would be hot.
That is the most awesome license plate I have ever seen. Hands down. I with PA had a cool plate like that!
Yeah we have this program called "myplates" where you can order all sorts of crazy license plates. I just went with the simplest, cheapest one they had ... not personalized or anything. I just wanted a clean and simple license plate.
I believe myplates is a private company who is licensed by the state to produce legal plates. I don't know if any other states offer this service but it's an innovative way to bring in more state revenue and also provide a new market for private companies.
Oh that's nuts... that's a nice setup. It didn't dawn on me that it was for a wheelchair b/c I saw the guy get out of the car and walk to the front door. It was at the home depot on Renaissance next to Costco
^ OEM and Aero type bars tend to stick out less. Most people like the extra bar on either side to add on my equipment - say bike racks or ski racks or kayaks...etc.
A couple shots of the oem bars - about as short as you'll get.
