    Power folding mirrors

Does anyone know the wire colors are for fold and unfold optins at the mirror control switch? The reason I ask is because I would like to wire a relay so that the mirrors will fold when I shut the car off and unfold when I turn it on.

Maybe completly random, but you might be able to do it with a vag com. Im just thinking about the auto window mod with the keyfob.

    Re: Power folding mirrors

I'm assuming the mirrors should fold whenever you hold back the adjustment lever... Mine aren't doing anything whenever I pull back the lever -- is there any way to troubleshoot this?

I'm going to give it another shot to see if I can hear motors moving, but I dont think I heard anything last time.

In my A6 - I have to rotate the adjustment knob to get the mirrors to fold. When the mark on the adjusting knob faces the rear of the vehicle - the mirrors should fold.

    Re: Power folding mirrors

Ahhh, ok, I'll try that -- it felt like it tilted back so I thought thats what I was sposed to do.

    Thanks for the tip.

Also, rhyno, if you figure out how to wire it up to fold/unfold with ignition, let me know... I'd be interested to try it out. Unfortunately I don't have enough time right now to start messing with wiring, but it would be a nice feature.

How great would it look to hit the lock button and see the windows roll up and the mirrors fold in.... I would love to see that!

    Re: Power folding mirrors

I know how to wire it to fold and unfold but I just have to pop the switch and test the wires to see which wire does what. I'll try to find these wires at the fuse panel also, which would make my wiring a lot easier.

Still working on it actually was a little busy working 2 jobs, now I'm just working my regular job now I have a little more time. I ran all the wires for my alarm but it's been pretty cold and the snow storm didn't help either, I'm also working on retro-fitting some projector foglights in the car.

I think if your mirrors folded every time you killed the ignition the motor that folds the mirrors would probably die much quicker leading to bigger problems. I just fold my mirror in manually when I get out of the car.

But it would help when You parked on narrow streets so you don't have to walk around and fold them. Also when you forget to unfold them after you get into the car

I do have the power fold option if I need it, I just don't like to use it unless I need it.

You can also damage your power mirrors if you fold them in and out manually Greg, but if that works for you then great. I figured that I'm going to have to go directly to each mirror and wire them there because I believe that they are some data wires at the switch that doesn't allow me to interface directly into the switch.

Ok, sorry fellas for the late update. I was able to get the power mirrors to fold out when I turn the car on and fold in when I turn the car off. I'm trying to make a video and possibly a diy if anyone is interested.

I'm working on DIY but this was performed on a C5 A6 so the only difference for you would be to find the wires at the mirror that makes them fold in and out. I can explain to you how to test the wires if you don't already know how to, but the rest of the procedure would be the same.

    I've traveled some.

I almost made a thread about my "found option" I guess this is common. Lol I was on the phone and looked closer at the knob. It looked like it would adjust the rear view or something so I twisted and it closed the exterior mirrors, I was pleasantly surprised! Love the new thing I found. Okay my excitement is dumb I know but w/e this is just a pointless random post :) Thanks for reading for those of you that do.
