Flew from Tulsa to Austin and drove it back yesterday. It's an 01 with MT, sport and conveinence. Only mods are APR snub mount and APR chip. One owner with all the history. I would like to put some coilevers on before I throw my BBS RKs on. Any suggestions for a daily driver with about 75/25 highway/city driving? Are PSS9s overkill?
If you dont track your car, don't buy PSS9s, you're wasting your money and they are a stiff ride if your roads are at all bumpy. Get something more street friendly, you'll have a more comfortable ride and will save some money.

Holy Moly, never seen a Pelican blue Avant. Sweet find!
PSS9s are definitely good coilover setup. However take into consideration that some people have different definitions of "overkill".
Mainly, what is your purpose for the Avant?
2nd, what did you pay for the Avant, and how much will the PSS9s cost you in comparison?
My point being (for instance) I paid $3200 for my CQ, I paid $300 for obselete sized BBSRXs, another $600 to get them refurbed, another $200 for decent used tires. That's $1100 for a wheel tire package. Over 1/3rd the cost of the car itself... and I still haven't touched the suspension. Definitely OVERKILL =)
Now, say you are going to track your car. PSS9s....probably not overkill.
If you follow my line of thinking, and knowing you're just going to Daily Drive it, you could also consider lowering springs and new shocks. that shouldn't burn your wallet....as bad as the PSS9s.
I went ahead and pulled the trigger on some Stasis StreetSports today. They'll probably suit me better since this will just be a daily driver. Plus, not a bad setup for $985 shipped.
I thought I'd keep this thread going with some of my recent mods.
Avic-D3 & VDO Boost Gauge
My old 17" BBS RK
Stasis Streetsport Coilovers. Just put on yesterday and need to be adjusted and allowed to settle.
I also installed a JHM "solid" short shifter.
My bday is next week and my wife wants to know what I want. I can't decide. Either exhaust, a fresh set of wheels or paint the lowers. I was thinking Milltek/APR/Borla on the exhaust (discussion of those options welcome) and 17" RS6 reps on the wheels. Comments, suggestions or thoughts?
nah get remus and mod a magnaflow x pipe on it delete the resonator..it will sound like a monster. Right now mine sounds comparable to a porsche gt3rs, the only reason I reference to that car's distinct grumble is because my pops owned one and I tried to make my car sound like it as much as possible.
thats what I did to my A6 avant, wait until I drop my supercharger in that thing in august, it will sound unreal.

looking for a sileighty..
E39 M5 DD full Hamann exhaust h-back/ Hamann CF splitter/ Hamann C Diffuser/K&N intakes/ecu tune more to come.
My personal preference if for it to not sounds like a "monster". I like my resonator and would probably grow tired of the sound without it seeing as how this is my DD. I just want something that's a little deeper and is audible when you step on it. I'll probably go Milltek when the funds are all there. Borla is a good price, but it's not that much bigger than stock and has some drone in an avant from what I've read.
Stratmosphere in NY has good prices for Milltek when they are on special. The guys that run the shop are also very helpful. Maybe call them and ask when the next sale is scheduled? I hope its not in December for the holidays....

Milltek is pricey... Supreme Power Parts has them as well as Stratmosphere, both are priced at $1199.00. That's a lot, and when they go on sale they are just a little less. APR is another option at about a grand.
I have heard a Remus exhaust (muffler) on an B5 A4 years ago and it really, REALLY sounds good. I have considered going this route for me with a custom set-up combined with a Remus muffler.
Milltek or APR would be the best bet IMO for an Avant that is a daily driver. Noise can be a problem in our Avants. What will the wife put up with??? We don't wont drone in the car at highway speeds. My wife likes to here the exhaust when you get on it, just not when we are cruising.

Any thoughts on using these for a custom 3" exhaust setup? Vibrant used to make a cat-back system made up of these componenets. They told me it made 89db. Does anyone know how that would compare to the Milltek, APR and Borla systems?
Vibrant Muffler #1043 (3"IN/Dual3.5"OUT) - $160
Vibrant 18" resonator #1795 (3"IN/3"OUT) - $65
Oh, and I gave her a wash today. Here's a clean pic after the drop. I still need to adjust the rear up just slightly.

Looks good and clean!!! IMO still up a hair in the back. I have not heard of Vibrant mufflers and resonators, they look good based on the pictures. 3" may be a little big for a stock to KO4 turbo set-up. What are your future plans? BT??? Most go with 2.25-2.50" for KO3, 2.5-2.75" for KO4 set-up's.
Eurosport makes an exhaust for I think like $700-750 that another Audizine B5 Avant runs with good success. I think he even has a clip on YouTube.

Last weekend, I changed the front brakes and while I was in there, I switched to A8 rotors. I also raised her up a bit in the back. All four corners are within 1/8" of 25" from the wheel well to ground. An APR exhaust is on order and should ship soon (I hope).
Looks good... The ride height looks spot on now. I will be going a little higher with 25 1/2" when I install mine later this summer. Are the Stasis SS that good? Just a tad stiffer than stock sport? Did you notice much difference with the A8 rotors? My brakes feel pretty week this Spring, maybe it was all of the mellow driving this past Winter. Have fun with your exhaust install. Again, Avant looks real good, glad you joined the Avant club and our forum!

[QUOTE=jbrentd;2504585]Thanks. I really like them, but they're not for the track. The A8 rotors definitely feel better, but my old pads and rotors were pretty worn.
Got any advice for the exhaust install?[/QUOTE
Here is a link for an exhaust install on Audi World:
If you can find a lift to borrow it would go much smoother, duh. I have done two exhaust install's on previous cars and sliding around under your car is a PIA.
Have fun and be safe...
