thats it! i took mine apart now i know what did you mean about 'oven' trick before taking it apart, LOL, anyways, i am deff. painting the side marker part black, but i still did not decide about the High beam part, either leave it like you did or maybe just leave the small stripe of chrome....i 'll try to do PS to show you what i mean.

oooh...I think leaving the small strip of chrome might look pretty bomb.

hey Asix-nice write up and good job...but i think i missed one thing, is there a chrome section attaced to the clear plastic lens also? or does it detach?
also, what kind of exhaust tips do have?

It detaches but you have to remove the amber reflector first because it doesn't allow the chrome plastic piece to flex, which is necessary if you want to get that piece out.

My tips are a generic brand that are actually RS6 replicas...the mufflers are magnaflows.

Nice...thanks bro! I don't like chrome and I never realized how much chrome is on the A6...but audi pulled it off quite nicely!

got some bad news, i have 2000 pre gace lift, and when i tried to mask the chrome , the tape took off the chrome.....i used both blue painters tape and white painters tape and they both gave me the same result, so i ended up paintine all black, and after it dries i will try to do a chrome paint coat, if the tapes won't tale the off the black paint...not exactly what i expected.

yeah i will try it...just need the time to do it. i was wondering about a Matte silver look also, becasue i was gonna do the matte silver RS6 grille. it has been done on the e46 bimmers. i think maybe it would look better on a black car though.

crappy phone pictures, i only left(painted with chrome) the high beam space, everything else is black, i like it, also my glass is not that new looking due to every day use;)
PS. Asix what silicon did you use to seal them back? i picked up some heavy duty water resistant adhesive sealant from HomeDepot.

Andrey nice man! I'm so glad to see more blacked out headlights!!! I used the Elmer's black silicone. I used it for my TL and for the A6...never had any fogging problems. You can get it at autozone or napa. not sure if schuck's has it.

now i really need to finish a gauge pod and then maybe start a new project, installing LED lights in the stock tail light housing. kinda like those on ebay.

see that dot right under the high beam lamp? it goes there, its a euro lights, they all have DRLs. There was a DIY on Audiforums if i am not mistaken.
