I Think on a dark colored car it would look great! or maybe even color matching (if you have dark blue / green) ...
The thought of putting my lights in an oven scared me too - I can't afford to get new lights if I broke these ...
so since I just moved back home from college, I stole my mom's hair dryer and used that as my "heatgun" to slowly heat the silicon on the light housings. I just ran it back and forth over an area of the light (I started on the bottom of the light housing) and then pried a little bit open with a screwdriver ... heated that area more ... pulled with my fingers, heated a bit more, etc etc ... all the way until I could pull the lens off (pulled
from the high-beam side
towards the turn signal)
The silicon goop was so sticky that while I was pulling the lens cover off, sometimes the silicon would make cracking and popping noises as it was being pulled apart, and I thought I broke my lens

... but it was just the silicon!
As for the pics, I moved my image gallery over to some web hosting the other day (rather than hosting from my home on a crap cable connection!) so the images may not show up properly for everyone yet. Give it a day or two.
here's a few more I took down at the beach at sunset two days ago. Of course, I washed and waxed my car, and it rained the next day :(
