B6 S4 and B7 S4 exhaust differences

I'm switching back to my stock exhaust and the shop that was storing it found that the passenger side catalytic converter has been 'stolen'. The stealership wants $1000+ for a new one (Canadian prices are outrageous). Some guys are giving their B6 exhausts away (haven't found a close B7) - can I take a B6 cat and use it on the B7? The dealership says they are different part numbers and can't confirm the B6 would fit on the B7...?

they should be the same......dealership probably just wants you to buy a new one.

yes..the downpipes/cats are the same for b6/b7...you'll be ok

I swear the B7 exhaust is louder than the B6. Every B7 I hear sounds meaner.

supposedly the b7's dont have the valve that the b6's do in the mufflers. my b7 doesnt atleast

I'd like to put an h-pipe on my s4, i already have the milltek cat back, but I'd like either downpipes or an h / x - pipe.

is the rs4 exhaust similar as well?

I think the resonator on the B7 exhaust is a little smaller as well. Not sure if that would make a difference. But, you never know.
