That coolant thing = thermostat housing, such a pita to remove in car >.<
When you redo your valve cover gaskets there's 6 critical points to put sealant on. Also make sure to clean off the surfaces first. If you have any Qs, just pm or msg me.

What deadline is that? Im already way behind schedule
Re: Since the B6 forum has been dead, I figured I'd post my 2.0 GT35R plans..
I would like to see detailed photographs of the oil pan. Inside chambers, how far it has to drop to clear the pump pick-up, etc...
Seeing as my oil pan gasket is getting done right now (and I'm not there to watch) I'm curious to know what the inside of the pan looks like to see if its possible to remove it without dropping the front subframe (assuming the engine is in the car).

Not a good idea to start a project like this without enough money, it always costs more than planned. I wouldnt start something like this unless I had 1k more than my budget!! Good luck and hope you dont get stuck out of commission!

Yes, if you look at a B6 you can really see how the Audi engineers changed things up and learned. We have a big brace on the bottom with 1 mount instead of those annoying ass ones that u have
Anyway, a little progress 2nite for like 1/2 hour...

Got your text..
A similar picture of the back of the pan/block please. That front one tells me the pan has to come down quite a bit to clear the pump (like the 2.8L).
Also inside the pan and lower part of the block showing the pan internals (baffles, etc) and the oil pump and stuff. Perhaps also a direct shot onto the bottom of the block as if you're looking dead on?

True, hey man by the way are there specific torque specs for all this shit that connects to the block? Theres so many friggin bolts... I hope its just "nice and tight"
Re: Since the B6 forum has been dead, I figured I'd post my 2.0 GT35R plans..
yea just nice and tight for all the accesorys and mounts and shit... all the internals, flywheel and head stuff needs to be torqued though... get the guts out of it already! and if you remove the knock sensor, make sure you torque that perfectly bc it can cause erratic timing pull otherwise

Re: Since the B6 forum has been dead, I figured I'd post my 2.0 GT35R plans..
since its a piezoelectric sensor, naturally the tighter you torque it, the more vibration the crystal is going to get... the more vibration, the more voltage to the ecu, the more knock the ecu reads...
goes for all cars btw, not just 1.8t's
and dirtybrd, i know you know this, just stating it for the readers

Ha! you know what? Maybe thats why CO AVANTs knock sensors were maxing out, it makes perfect sense... dirtybrd and Jake Im so jealous that u guys do this all day shit is so fun lol

Re: Since the B6 forum has been dead, I figured I'd post my 2.0 GT35R plans..
I told you german auto is the way to go! What size did you get for the head bolts? the 10mm or 12mm? Post up their p/n from their website for documentation sake.
Why is cylinder #4 full of oil? It appears only cyl #1 has open valves.
Have fun pulling the crank pulley off. Might want to do that next. I suggest fabbing up a lock on the flywheel to prevent the crank from turning. Kind of like Jeff's system for bolting the flywheel on.
I do recall Jordan talking about the knock sensor torque. I want to say he installed it for he installed all the accessories.
Good progress!
Chris. I just responded to your email. Sorry for the delay. Been reinstalling XP on my parents' computer.
