Hey guys, this will be a documentation of my engine project. I have been playing around with what BT setup I am going to run for years now haha, and finally everything is comming together. I started out wanting the elminator when they got big on here, then I said I'd do a 3071, then a 3076R, then a custom 3076R, then a 3082R, and now finally I have decided on a Forced Performance FP3582HTA.. It spools quicker and has more power throughout the powerband than a regular 35R.
Also, guys, keep in mind I'm an 18 year old college student. The 2.0 will definitely be done by Christmas time, but the turbo setup may take a bit to get. I will keep this thread open about the setup.
My Goal for this setup is 400whp+ on pump gas, and possibly hitting 11.9 full weight with Water/Meth.. Its a crazy goal but why not
Thanks guys, I am really looking to push the limits of the B6 for you guys. We are way behind the VWVortex guys and I feel like if some members on here had the knowledge of what was needed for a proper turbo setup, they would do them
FIRST PART: 2.0 Stroker (Project starts December 20th)
- rod bearings
- main bearings
- front seal
- rear seal
- main bolts
- head bolts
- head gasket
- timing belt kit
- oil pump
(All ^ about $400-500)
- Machine Work (bore/hone, balancing the crank, hottanking, possibly blueprinting) (About $400)
All this will make my engine a 2008cc 2.0 liter
SECOND PART: 35R Project
Parts Needed:
- Turbo (Forced Performance 35R .63 A/R)
- Manifold (Possibly Mike2ptzero's Full Race or a Jay Thornton)
- Wastegate (Tial 38mm or 44mm)
- Exhaust (Custom Vband 3" to twin 2.25" Turboback)
- Injectors (630cc Siemens but may need bigger)
- Software (Most likely Unitronic)
- Intake (not sure yet)
- FMIC (ER Comp)
- Clutch (SB OFE SS)
- Water/Meth (Snow Performance Stage 2 MAF)
- Boost Gauge/EBC (Probably Eboost2)
- Tial BOV
Things Comming after the setup is running
- Cams (Cat3653s or Schricks)
- Intake Manifold (Big Port 007 and dremmeling my stock head)
- AEB head with full port/polish and new valves/springs/etc.
Shout out to Issam (Wizard-of-OD) and Paul@BoostFactory (killa) for their support and help, I ask a trillion questions about everything and it must get real annoying
Thanks guys, I do a lot of little jobs on the side so if you want to see this go faster let me know, Ill be in NJ over break and back in MD for school around February. I have threads about it in the NE and MA forum

Re: Since the B6 forum has dead, I figured I'd post my 2.0 GT35R plans..
That's a lot more money than you think. You'll see. You will be broke for a long time to come if you are just a student. If you're some rich kid that had the parents buy the car for them, than you should really shoot for the moon with pistons, rods, etc. Either way, I'm drunk, and you will be spending the next six months cursing the engine shop and your parts sources. Ask me how I know. Jesus, British chicks and good beer make the world spin. Ok, it's just the beer, since most of the brit women were chubby. :D

'08 VW R32, Candy White - stock
'02 A4 1.8tmq Avant, Dolphin Grey - engine swap in the future
Re: Since the B6 forum has dead, I figured I'd post my 2.0 GT35R plans..
have you seriously thought of buying a re/built designed 1.8/hybrid engines??? ....sell the stock engine (nice penny too)
i have been looking into doing it this way for a bit with the vr6-tt
Re: Since the B6 forum has dead, I figured I'd post my 2.0 GT35R plans..
seriously.. how do you have time.. i had my injectors and dv shipped to me.. don't have time get under and install the dv.. or even get it flashed at this point... with finals coming up
Re: Since the B6 forum has dead, I figured I'd post my 2.0 GT35R plans..
why don't you just go buy a 2.0 /... there was one for sale in classifieds a few weeks ago .. and sell your current engine
i'd focu son your schooling anhd the grades. As a senior - its more important to your future etc and plus it'll still be a good project if you buy some of the bigger parts
Now: RNS-E | Debadged | GIAC 1+
Soon: Caractere front and sides | S4 Rear | S4 Doorblades | Bi-Xenon E-Codes
Future: GTRS BT Kit | Tip Tranny upgrade for BT Kit

He isn't responding because he is probably laying on the garage floor trying to put his transmission back in! Hell of a job. We just did it on my car a few weeks ago.
If you guys ever met Clint he is a super motivated guy. He has enough energy to fill the room. He has lofty goals and I also don't think he realizes how much money and how long this project is going to take.
He is doing Mechanical Engineering, so maybe you can view this project as extra credit...

why would I do that? I can reuse my stock block and machine it for $300... were talking a difference of like $3k+ that could go towards my turbo

Also, Im doing the 2.0 during Christmas break when Ill be home for 5 weeks and the turbo setup will probably get fully done this summer when I am home for 2 months

Because that 2.0 cost a lot of money ... Im trying to show people that this can be done on a budget... I'm really frustrated actually that no one is interested on doing anything with our engines, especially the b6 guys... If you saw the threads on Vortex it would make this look like a regular build.

Super motivated is right but stay focused, Clint! I look forward to helpin' out - one MechE to another!
12/23/09 - I'd just like to say my car has been phenomenal to me. Runs strong, like a champ. I don't think I'm ever going to sell it. I'd rather throw $7k into it for a complete refresh than buy a new A4 that has no oil dipstick.
12/5/10 - 100k miles and counting!

I am looking forward to the pics of the build when it is all done.
I'm in the middle of a similar build and have decided to go 1.9L with some 83.0mm pistons and a bored out block vs. going for the full 2.0L
Hey man I know thats me over on AG with the same name, I have been following your build for awhile man I am really excited to see the outcome. I know the pricing might be a bit off but whatever I know the 2.0 will be done around Christmas time, that is a given. The turbo setup I will be piecing together until I get the final product
Re: Since the B6 forum has been dead, I figured I'd post my 2.0 GT35R plans..
Be careful with how aggressive you go on the cams, VVT doesn't like super aggressive cams....that's why I didn't go with anything more than the 3651's.

Cool man you should come by for the 2.0 I think Im starting around December 20th. Wolfdog is also a ME and hes helping out too. I'm gonna have a ton of help with this hah. Thanks tho Ill let u know...

Updates:
1. Clutch is broken in and God does it clamp... I can spin my tires every time on a launch now and when its wet I bounce off the rev limiter, which I could NEVER do before
2. Pistons are done I just have to go pick them up when I get home for break, build begins on the 19th, which is 9 days away
3. I have shifted my thinking towards the new line of Turbonetics Turbos, the GTK500. It is a bit smaller than the GT35R but it can still push 400whp+ and should be really streetable with a quick spool.
4. I have decided to also add some 034 street density mounts to the list as well as some new plumbing for the water/meth kit

Not needed on our cars seeing that no one is going to rev high enough to take advatage of the solid lifters. Just a good set of aftermarket valves and valve springs allow for a 8500 rpm rev limiter. Plus the fact that a solid lifter needs to be adjusted very often while the stock setup does not.

When is the block going in for machining? I'll be home in CT through the 22nd. Then in NJ through the 2nd if you need any help or anything. My car goes back to ASP on the 26th.
