You can use a soft brush as well to get the foam going. Its not going to look like your doing much but it is cleaning the seats.
What color are the seats?
The seats are the Dakota Gray Leather from a BMW 325ci. They've been heavily soiled on the seat itself and at the headrest, typically at the point where the body makes contact with the seat.
Phil - I just want to say thanks for my last order of stuff.. I ordered yesterday morning and my order was delivered today by lunch. I don't know what you are bribing the fed-ex people with but damn, that was quick service.
I can't wait to wash my car now. I wish it took longer to get my order, then i wouldn't be so anxious to clean my car.

Hi Phil i have 2006 B7 S4 and i have started to notice that my exhaust tips have swirl marks on it and does not have that shine any more what should i do?
I have swirl marks and light scratches on my car from the previous owner. I bought the Essential Kit w/ porter cable a few months back. Can I jsut use the Revive Polish and Swirl & Haze Remover that came with the kit to get rid of the swirl marks? I also have Menzerna Intensive Polish and Menzerna FJM along with Klasse ALL-IN-ONE Polish & Sealant..
Can you tell me what I can use to remove most of the swirls and scratches and which order I should use the products?
your wash is probably the problem, to get rid of the circle/swirls you should probably figure out what is wrong with your washing and then correct the paint with polish, and then finally protect it with wax.
I have a 2005 (B6) Black S4. What would be the recommended pre-wax polish for this car. I have a PC and was planning on using a white CCS pad to do the pre-wax polish. I've been considering Menzerna 85RD or the PO106FF but I'm confused about which to use with my paint. Are there other recommended alternatives? I was going to finish with 1Z Glanz Wax

Phil, I'm looking for some advice. I just bought a 2006 black a4. The paint has some swirls and some hazing. I want them gone. I just put together a list of products that I was going to buy. Tell me what you think.
Porter Cable with white and black pad 5.5 (an extra one of each)
Uber Clay Bar with adam's detail spray
Adam's swirl, revive, buttery wax kit
Some microfiber towels
Also with the group buy for the PC when would it ship.
Hey Phil. I want to start washing/detailing my car correctly (at least I think I wash it right). I just want to make it look nicer, and I was wondering if you could give me some tips or directions as far as how to do certain things. Thanks!

As best as possible by hand, and if I eventually feel it, I will step it up to a PC (depending on their price; how much do they cost). But for now, I'm doing all hand cleaning.

I'm not necessarily new to detailing but I always done everything by hand. I think it's finally time to see what a pc can do. I do have a wash bucket with a grit guard that I got from griots garage. i use meguiars gold class wash and a microfiber mitt. Also another quick question. Which pad is used for the revive polish?
Do you know of a product or techique that I could use to remove and protect my wheel rotors from rusting? Every time I wash and detail my car my wheels look hoprrible... More than being concerned about the main rotor surface I am interested in keeping the non friction areas from rusting and ruining the look of my wheels in general...
Also, how can I remove yellowish build up on my tire walls caused by my dealer using Armor All or similar products everytime I bring my car in for service. I bought a product called Wheel Magic and it really didn't help much...
I got my order today (amazingly fast shipping, thanks!) and noticed The Spoke Brush is a bit stiffer, harder than what I was expecting, any tips on how to make sure I don't scratch my wheels? I am looking forward to not killing my back using a sponge to clean all the surfaces on the wheels! Thanks!
I have not detailed my car before, but helped my freind when he did mine before with just a wax job. I feel like waxing my car today and would like to ask what route to go. Mind you, I do not know much about this stuff. I was just thinking a good wax job. But if you can recommend another thing afterwards to have that nice shine to it and have it last longer, by all means your assistance will be very helpfull. And steps please. This is all I had planned, nothing big. I washed car yesterday so all I want to do is basically give it a good wax job (please list what you suggest to be good/better/best moderately priced wax) and can you give some tips.
And what does a clay bar do?
Edit: Where in NJ are you located? Do you do detailing jobs yourself? If so, can you PM me on your prices?

Two questions:
1) How to make alum roof rails clean/shiny again? Mine (B5 s4) have developed that cloudy/milky haze and, while I've done a lot of forum searching, I haven't yet come across the "magic bullet" for this. Any advice would be welcomed.
2) Recommended product for restoring the "like-new" shine/finish of black trim (plastic, rubber and metal). I used to use something called "Black Again" - worked great on all 3 materials (espec on my bimmers), but I'm now all out and can't seem to find it anymore - what do you suggest?

so we got a flex and a couple of pads and put it to work for the first time. results were great. unbelievable what one run did with sip and an orange pad. but then after the third run, just finished the trunk area, the velcro on my orange pad came off. not sure what we couldve done wrong, i know it was pretty perfectly centered, we didnt put too much pressure while buffing. anybody know a way to sorta give this a fix? can we glue this back some how? had to finish the rest of the car with a white pad. results not as good but after a few funs, they came out okay, we were able to get swirling out. if anybody else have run into this type of problem, please let me know how you fixed it. have a basically brand new pad but we can't use it anymore.
What are the differences between a Porter Cable 7336SP and 7424 from a detailer's point of view? What's the advantage one has over the other? I need some convincing on which model to purchase. What about other name brand polishers?
Hey Phil,
Do you actually use the Schmitt mitt to wash with, if not what do you use and where can i get it? Im looking to place an order and want to get stocked up for a while.
