Are there any unlisted features you've stumbled upon other than the VAG reprogramming of convenience features such as:
1. Auto-locking doors at speed
2. Open/Close windows, sunroof with remote
3. Removing select lock/unlock feature
4. Removing seatbelt chime (on MY2004 and newer)
I noticed on the Avant, if you just unlock the hatch and upon closing, the alarm chirps and reactivates without the remote.
Other features listed in the manual I really like are:
1. storage trays underneath the front seats
2. little sunvisor flap above the rear view mirror (standard on vw's too)
3. the grocery bag hooks in the trunk (sedan)
Features I really hate:
1. Useless front cup holder!!!!
2. 24 hour clock
Any others that I've missed? For example, I know that on the mercedes, if you press and hold the recirculation button on the climate control, it activates the "tunnel" feature and closes all windows and sunroof. Depressing and holding the recirc button again will return the windows in the last opened position. I wonder if we can VAG this feature?
you can switch the 24 hour clock. just set it to a different region (there are 6 or 7, with different combos of 24 hour clock and region settings aka metric system or standard)
the best trick still (if you're dealer didnt do it) is setting your windows to go up and down with your remote as opposed to sticking it in the door

I believe it's like that with all audi's. I know in my 96 A4 if I unlock the car and only get into the trunk (and don't open any doors) everything will relock and the alarm we reset itself after I think one min. Just don't leave your keys in the back.

On the climate control, you can change the temp for BOTH SIDES (without doing one side, then doing the other) by holding down the "Auto" button...
When you unlock your car with the remote key, the mirrors and seat will go back to the #1 position of your Seat Memory... comes in handy when someone else drives your car (GF or Dealer, etc.)...

You need to VAG to turn off the chime:
Instructions:
Select]
[17 - Instruments]
[Recode - 07]
Write down the existing coding for future reference.
Enter 5-digit code from below
[Do It!]
Look at the first two digits in the coding. Add the values for the options together to get the correct coding.
00 - No available equipment
+01 - Brakepad wear sensor warning active
+02 - Seatbelt warning active
+04 - Washer fluid level warning active (may only work with pre-2000 models)
+16 - Navigation System (non-USA models)
Look at the third digit in the coding (Market version):
i could never get the seat chime to stop on my 03 GTI, my 04 doesnt have it, and my roommate who has the exact same car as me does (i havent messed with the vag yet laptop is broken) but the clock thing works i know that, and you can also change the whole cluster to do Celsius, liters, and km.
But for the km and liters you need VAG, right? No shorcut to do that?

Let me correct myself.. that should be the MENU button, not 'mode'. oops, my bad. Once you've press it for 5 secs, press it two more times til you get to the 'Radio/NAV' menu and turn your right dial so the setting is at ZERO. This pretty much is like pushing the 'LOUD' button on many aftermarket HU's.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing. Just tried it and although it does make it clearer and boomier at 0 I felt it sounded best at -3. But thats just my ears, everyone is different.

"The Throttle is "Drive By Wire" and adapts to your particular driving style. Do a TBA Throttle body adaption).
1. Get in your car, it doesn't matter if you close the door or not.
2. Turn the key to the on position, the position just before the starter turns over.
3. Press the gas pedal to the floor with the key in the "on" position.
4. Hold the pedal to the floor for five seconds, then turn the key back to the "off" position(don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
5. Wait 2 mins. for a full alignment. During this time you may hear very faint noises and clicks. I
only heard one sitting in my car, if I got out and popped the hood I might hear more.
6. Drive the car as you always do.
Depending on your driving style, this may or may not be a big factor. I do a lot of city driving so
I noticed a big change after erasing my history. It is not hard to do this, just follow the
instructions - Key on, pedal down, 5 sec, key off pedal up, wait 2 minutes.

Is this from TSB (technical service bulletin) from Audi? I thought with the Tiptronic, it is constantly adapting to your driving style and delays the shifting points based on driving habits. How does this TBA work with manuals when the driver controls the shift points, or does TBA serve another function?

This Deals with the Throttle body and the fact that there is no linkage between the gas pedal and the throttle body. It is all computer controlled. Nothing to do with the transmission.
I know this is an old thread, but I am not sure if some of you know this already or not. You can turn off the center display (the one that shows the CD track, MPG and stuff) within your guage cluster so it is just black. Not that I would ever drive around like that, but I thought it was intersting.
Just hold down the button on the underside of the windsheild washer control and the check button (self diagnostic) on the dash at the same time and it disspears.
I found this out while trying to get rid of the beeping from setting the speed alarm. It gets rid of that too.
how do I get rid of the trip timer, the thing that beeps after two hours, and my dealer keeps telling me its impossible for the sunroof and windows to OPEN with the remote...So is it possible and if yes, how?
