My newest diy project...pulled fenders/widebody

I'm also heavily searching for a B5. Either something to help me complete my b5 or an easier project I can put my parts onto. Any leads or info would be appreciated. Also interested in totalled B5's.

So I have said this several times over the past few years but the project is again taking a new direction. The car has been moved into the garage and I started doing some bodywork today. My goal right now is to do all of the body work I plan to do first and then decide what I will end up doing for the power train. I attempted to finish the project a few times now and haven't gotten very far. This way I can justify the investment of the big ticket items if the rest of the car is complete.

I will post updates as I go and I hope that I can post a lot soon but this will not be a short project.



Paint looks good for being outside for a few years. Guess I didn't do that bad of a job the first time. Second time should be even better.

I stopped working when I found the biggest mouse nest I have ever seen in the headliner. Also saw one of my little friends looking back at me. Have to eradicate them tomorrow.

I'm liking where this is headed. I've never priced out custom cut glass. Is it expensive?

First goal for today was to clean out the mouse nest. This is what I get for leaving the car outside for a few years.



After that was done I cut a section out of the rear door. Originally I was thinking I could graft this section into the front door but it appears that they are slightly different sizes.








Again I'm not going to post my hopes and dreams of what I plan to do, but do plan to post updates on the days I get to work on it. I'm also going to post this as a link in the original thread to keep track as I go.

Didn't get too much done on the audi today. i took off some of the driver's side rear suspension. i want to get everything off just so it is a little easier to square everything up before i cut the B pillar out.

i also plastic dipped the wheels on my jeep. it was dark when i put them back on so i will have to take pictures tomorrow.

Update from today. The rear suspension and diff are now off. Attempting to get the whole car stripped down so i can get it trued up and reinforced.

I just read this entire thread. Holy mother of g*d, you have put an insane amount of work into this car. Absolutley love it and can't wait to see the progression from its current position.

A little more tear down today. Took off the passenger doors trunk and rear lights. A couple more things to remove then i have to roll it outside and pressure wash it.

Bought a bottle of welding gas today and went to town. Put a couple tacks on the rear door and its turning out well.

So I figured I would post the good/bad and ugly. I got the rear door welded up but rushed it from the start. In my rush to get it welded I ended up not paying attention and grinding through the sheet metal in two spots. This will have to be fixed. I did buy myself a christmas gift of a mini lathe which should be fun.

First door mocked up with four inches removed. Getting back into the swing of fabrication and learning as I go. Wish I didn't leave the welding bottle open and now require a refill. Expensive learning experience. Hoping to get stuff done this Wednesday.
