When I hit bumps my suspension makes a little rattle noise. I do have stasis street sports on my car so is it just normal noise or do I need to get something checked out? Thanks!

    Re: suspension rattle

Where in the suspension is the noise coming from? If you can narrow it down to "only when I turn left going over a bump" or something like that we can give you a better idea. As is it could be one of 20 things

    Re: suspension rattle

jack it up and shake'er down... that's the only way you're going to find the culprit. Typically its a ball joint or control arm bushing going bad. Could be a tie rod end as well... How many miles on the car?

    Re: suspension rattle

It is when I go over a bump and sounds to be comming from the front. The car has 70,000 on it.

Do you know if its had anything replaced before? I'd guess control arm bushing, like quickdub said jack it up and see if anything is loose or moves on either of the front wheels.

Stock a4/s4 springs are known to crack and break the base coil. I had it happen to me...not sure if its your problem but definately sounds just like the noise i was hearing. if you can define where its coming from jack it up on that corner and take a look...you'll see the base coil either missing or wrapped tight around your shock. Don't blame yourself...way too common on the B5 chassis.

    Re: suspension rattle

I've finally narrowed down my weird suspension/drive train noises.... it's coming from the front right shock. When I push down on the quarter panel, the shock squeaks and moans as it moves up and down. Also, when I drive and I deccelerate, I can hear the noise, it sounds like popcorn popping, or a piece of lose metal grinding something. I've jacked it up and had the wheel off, everything is tight down there, so im convinced that sound is still the shock. Is this the sign of a failing shock ? Everything on the suspension is stock, 78k miles.
