Re: GReddy FMIC for B7 A4
what kind of performance gains do you get with it?
-
Re: GReddy FMIC for B7 A4
Sorry for being MIA guys. I'm glad we have some interest, this is for sure a nice setup.
We'll definitely try to work out special pricing or a group buy for all AZ members!
How many members would be interested in a group buy, let's get the ball rollin'!

No cutting involved on the Avant we fitted it on in the pictures, but the S-line models would probably have to trim the intercooler ducts on each side.

Re: GReddy FMIC for B7 A4
is this better than the stock DSMIC? if it is, i will probably get one
-
Re: GReddy FMIC for B7 A4
Of course!~
This is a huge front mount, right in the direct path of cold airflow. You won't be disappointed!

Isn't that a little backwards? There was no R&D on the product to see the gains. This is an expensive product and would be a lot of money for a part that just offer better aesthetics on the car.
On the other hand, judging by the size of the core (epically the thickness) I do think this core with provide better temps over the DSMICs, but I still think it should have been tested

Re: GReddy FMIC for B7 A4
I'm sorry, i should rephrase. The intercooler was tested, but i don't have the paperwork, and i can't test the car physically at the moment b/c it is incapacitated.
But yes, it is safe to say that it will decrease temps compared to the stock setup. GReddy has a great track record with intercoolers and turbos in Japan! If you look at the Nissans, which are most popular, they run a lot of GReddy parts, mainly turbos and intercoolers.
The European community might not know us as well, but i can assure you, the quality and performance is there!

creative sells the racetec one, with no trimming involved, and its a little more stealthy. don't know if alex and them have shown any testing, but he has one on his car and it looks great

Re: GReddy FMIC for B7 A4
The best thing I like about the GReddy FMIC is how the power steering lines have been altered to move in front of the intercooler for an "OEM" look.
If you look at what Eurocode and Creative has, they all bent their power steering lines upwards and DIAGONALLY. If you look at pictures of it, it looks extremely tacky to have this weird line sticking out diagonally. Versus a perfectly OEM look here:
I'm glad that GReddy has even thought of making a new mounting hole for the Power steering line versus everyone else who just makes our cars look cheap by bending the line upwards diagonally.

lol, yes they are in production, see the first post on this thread
Instructions will be out soon, we have a lot of pictures for now though, so there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Re: GReddy FMIC for B7 A4

Where I currently live, it's 37-38 degrees Celsius 4-6 months in a year, so it would be nice to have more surface area to cool the intake air temperature down.

This I will have to jump out and defend for Eurocode, there's a bracket for the power steering lines from Eurocode on the car, mine was the prototype unit, so I was waiting for that bracket, but during that time I was aalso waiting to take the car to the body shop for some bodywork, so basically what happend was I had the bracket, just was just too lazy to install it.
Saw the Greddy FMIC back in 05's SEMA, that was a beautiful piece they had at the show, and you can go wrong with the product offered by a top company such as Greddy
