Awesome, was a nice day to ride. 8 hour completely fell through which sucks, not happy with the way things went there. I just went for a light ride around here, hope to get out for a good road session tomorrow.
I think we should plan a Ravenshoe ride soon. I saw AHI had racks on his car. I know jheacock is a big rider, would could have quite the Audi bike meet.
what went down at the 8h?
Maybe we can try for a ride next weekend somewhere. I'm fine with the 'shoe'.
Steve - NICE wheels man! PIMP.
All in favor of Ripple chaning the thread title to "cycling" say "I"

Mike, thanks! I can't wait for the wheels to arrive. Ryan, they should be in probably next week, and then after that just gotta sort the odds and ends and build her up.
Just got back from Kelso. Great place. First uphill climb is tough when you're not properly warmed up, shock to the body! But coming back down is a blast, especially that one short rocky trail. Reading their website this morning I didn't quite understand why they wanted the south parking lot opened..... now I see why, but that's no fun!
Surprised you never been to Kelso. Was pretty good. It's not as technical as Ravenshoe but the trails are a bit faster. Some narrow stuff especially out in the fields. Not as many tree roots but more rocks than anything else. Humidity was a killer today, plus the smog.
There are some good roads up there, I know Mike found some of them last year on his cruise to Collingwood. I drive a few of them here and there gonig to the chalet as well.
As for riding, we are planning Sat June 16th morning at Albion. Have about 6 guys that will be riding in the 24 hour coming out to preride the course. Anyone?

What's the pace going to be? Race or leisure?

The parts mostly came from eBay,...from a seller called M R Bikestore, guy always usually has high-end xc / road stuff. Frame I got for free from a local bike wrench, he had it lying around his house and wanted to get rid of it since it was too big for him and he was moving. The cranks / derailleurs / seatpost and slick tires came off of my old bike that I had lying around in the basement. Pretty much everything else is brand new. Oh yeah the xtr discs came from pinkbike – used but mint cond.
Which Sat morning? I might be up...got a question for you Ryan, on your Chris King hubs, did you notice any drag on the freehub? I'm guessing this is normal and the new hubs need to be broken in? Seems like there is a ton of grease loaded inside the helical splines of the hub. Also did you notice a very tiny amount of play in the rear hub when it was brand new?
Next few weekends will be busy for me, haven't been on the bike for a few weeks now. F1 Historics @ Mosport this weekends, camping/canoing in Algonquin during the long weekend, Toronto Indy after that, maybe the superbike weekend at Mosport again after that!
It was last Sat Steve, this weekend is the 24 hour at Albion.
I didn't notice any drag on the freehub at first. What is happening, if you coast the pedals will slowly spin forward?
Hubs definitely have to be broken in, you'll find they will buzz louder as you put miles on them. The play in the hub sounds like things need to be tightened up, its normal for them to loosen a bit at first.

^ I did some research on mtbr.com forums, and the drag on the freehub of CKs are normal, and they need to be broken in. Basically when you back pedal the chain sags. Also the play is coming from the use of XT M760 cassette and CK Hubs, because there isn't enough spacing for the cassette or something, it is a known issue. I think you can get a spacer, a CK lockring, or simply use a SRAM cassette to solve the problem.
Ah, yeah I run SRAM as to why I didn't have that issue then.
Very nice, so the bike been rolling?
I spent last night filing down my caliper mounts, they were always rubbing on the front wheel, wasn't aligned in the center. Got it all worked out and bike should be fast for the weekend. Thinking of running one lap on the new cyclocross bike

No can do for me for a while on the weekends. Algonquin this weekend. Indy next weekend. Maybe the Saturday after the Indy weekend but heading to Mosport for the superbike race on Sunday. Then my parents are here for two weeks, wait, I might need an excuse to get out during the weekends :)
The new bike is great, it handles very well on technical terrain and slices up the singletrack. The R7 fork is very stiff and plush for an xc race fork.
