Not running more than 18psi for a few reasons:
I'm on a really rough base tune, about 11.8:1 at WOT, so it's a bit lean..
Also, I heard yesterday that with the 2.5 bar map sensor on the 034, it's not safe to run more than 20psi (news to me, and doesn't quite make sense because 2.5bar = 35psi about.)
Anyway, I'm going to send the 034 out and get the 3bar map sensor so I can safely run high boost and I'm installing control arms this week and fixing a minor fuel issue, after that, expect some nice numbers and better vids :)
bernb5 i see ur located on LI and hartford and so am i. do u go to college in hartford or something? if u live on LI letme know mab u can come hit up some of the races when im home.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Well
#1 11.8 is not lean, thats great.
#2 The reasoning behind the 2.5 map is 2.5 - 1.0 (For atmospheric pressure) = 1.5 bar for boost.
So you can actually get away with 22 psi, not 20 psi.
Either way, it seems to be running pretty good right now.
Ok, few responces here:
-11.8 is not lean but these cars run better in the 11.4 area..
-Thanks for the info about the map, so I guess even with a 3 bar I can't run much more than 30psi... interesting.
-I'm from long island but yeah, I go to school at the university of hartford.
- and yes, my wastegate (tial 38/40mm) is ported straight to the ground, it's ridiculously loud and I'll be plumbing it back into the downpipe in the near future.
Once the car is retuned and I can turn the boost up, I'll post the dyno and vids up here
you didn't hear anything like that... i was short shifting and shifting very slowly.. only reved to 7000 in those.. 8000 will be the redline of choice. stay tuned ;)
I know, I know.... not B5, but I'm just doing my part to keep the thread going. Sitting in a hotel, away on business, and scanning all the forum threads to keep myself from buying a spanktravision movie on pay-per-view. I've actually watched every video posted in this thread since it's start, and today is the first time I saw the thread. Nice cars, all! Tame driving in this vid, but don't really have many local roads to open it up. I have to travel 20 miles to get to a highway with enough straightaway to do 3rd gear VAG COM pull without driving off a cliff.
Meh, It's been posted in another thread but since this is a good way to have a compilation of BT vids I thought I would put it in here. I bogged the begging and grannied it into 3rd because I had already won the fun run....
1. Very small digital cam, check.
2. Stickypod that I used to record my autocross runs (in my GLI), check.
3. A full summer with a crazy fun new (to me) A4 with 3" TB and tons of other scary noises with not a single shot of video, wtf???
Damn, I miss summer soooo bad!! Next summer will be soooo good!! You guys are kiling me with all these vids... Keep 'em coming!
One thing I wish I could catch.. my CAI filter is between my firewalls so turbo sound in the cabin is pretty killer... it almost sounds like a jet engine while spooling up, but it gets strangely uber quiet at max boost in the upper rpm ranges...
Ack, only 5 months or 150 days or 3600 hours to go! 1200 of those are sleep hours, so technically only 2400 hours to go! yes! :(
I have the winter/cabin fever already and we're only a cpl weeks deep, it's painful living in this climate sometimes. OCD much? hahaha. Ahh well, I'll live.
I got another video. It requires editing and I can't get on the other computer right now.

A couple short bursts before the video starts rolling, but essentially I was waiting to verify that the camera man (AUDIA4_18T) was rolling on the video.
The M3 goes by me going @ very minimum 10 miles per hour faster than me @ WOT.....
After getting the go ahead from the camera man I punch it and try to catch up....
haha nice... vid would be much better without commentary lol.
i wish i wasn't at school right now. about to graduate, but this is so hard being away from the project. I just want it done!
just spoke with Javad@034 and I'll be getting a 4bar MAP :)
ps - Don, get that antisurge housing from Arnold@PagParts, and turn the damn boost up already!

Adam, thanks for posting that video, but man that site sucks. It takes forever to play and if you miss the video you have to download it again!
I still haven't gotten a clean viewing. It looks very quick especially for 12 psi. Others may not know, but in this car going from 40 to 60 in 2 or so seconds is a pretty sweet sensation.

Who are you having do your tune? Jeff out there at Sleepers? He did some work for me on a Jetta I drove out from Indiana. I'm sure he remembers lol, he had to drop me off at the airport lol and pick me back up. If I ever decide what route I want to take I will have him do my retune, regardless of what I do lol. He did an amazing job the last time and squeezed 100whp and tq out of the tune that was given by HPA without changing anything mechanical.

True, but wouldn't it feel better to go 40-60 in less then 1.5 seconds

Yup...Jeff is the MAN!! He had always been very easy to deal with and, as you know, works wonders with his tuning.
i have a broken wrist and cannot even begin to move my pinky, let alone work the home keys. so if my posts lack grammer/punctuation and that iritates you, simply, fuck off
It just seems like certain people always trivialize what others say...almost in a demeaning way. It actually really sucks. Makes me want to keep my info/vids/pics to myself. Know what I mean?
YES!!! it does. some people just can't let go of the ego and enjoy other's cars for a minute... not thinking of any people in particular of coarse
