Did some searching, but couldn't find much info.

What do folks recommend for eco-friendly car wash? My storm drains flow into local streams, so I don't want to dump a bunch of toxic sludge and kill all the nice fish. I've seen that Simple Green makes a car wash, and they tend to be pretty eco-friendly, but I've never used that product. Thanks!

Hello All,

Well, some birds attacked my car the other day. fresh wash and wax and i had 4 poop...

Hello All,

Well, some birds attacked my car the other day. fresh wash and wax and i had 4 poop spots on my car. Mostly rear end for some reason. My car sits in the sun all day when i am at work, so i think the marks baked for at least a few hours.

So i did a full detail on my car (only did a spray and wax this time) and i could not remove the leftover bird poop residue. THere is still a hologram mark you can see from certain angles (hence hologram). I read up on why this happens, and apparently there is a certain pH in bird poop that seeps into your clear coat. I read that the only way to remove this is by cutting into your clearcoat by using a cutting compound.

SO now I am going to attempt this (I am kind of a newb to pro detailing).

I bought Meguiars products (most accessible in brick and motor stores).

I have been washing my A4 in the condo car-wash bay for the last few years. Just relying on the tools already available in the bay, plus some buffing/drying towels.

Audi recently replaced most of the metal parts on my car under the anti-corrosion warranty and the paint looks pretty stellar. Plan on getting a professional detail done soon to restore some of the shine in the plastic body parts to really make the car look good, but in the meantime i thought it would be a perfect time to put together a good home car care kit, so that i dont use those nasty brushes in the car-wash bay, etc.

Would be awesome if some of you detailing experts could help me put together an exterior/interior kit that i can use to start with. I am Toronto, Canada so probably order from eshine.ca is the vendor of choice, but will price out DD just incase also.

Disclaimer: Please excuse my ignorance when it comes to proper wash/detailing. Hoping to learn from the experts here :)

Budget: ~$200-$300 (relatively flexible)

After doing some googling & forum searching here is what i came up with so far:

Big Order:
1) Adam's Essentials Detail Kit-Upgrade to 3.9oz Americana

2) Adam's Ultimate Merino Wool Car Wash Mitt

3) Adam's Car Wash Bucket & Grit Guard with FREE Wash Pad!

4) 2 x Uber Waffle Weave Drying Towel 24 x 36

5) 10 Pack Uber Quick Detail Microfiber Towel (you can never has too many towels!)

6) Wheel Woolies - The Spoke Back Woolie

7) 2 x 1Z einszett Plastic Deep Cleaner (seems to be the best all-purpose interior cleaner!)

8) Uber Leather Cleaning Brush (for interior cleaning in conjuction w/einszett Deep Cleaner)

9) MicroRestore Microfiber Detergent

Total Cost - TBD

EDIT: Will continue to update list above based on feedback.

REMOVED FROM LIST:

-- NEW! ADAM'S TOTAL INTERIOR DETAILER KIT

-- ADAM'S MICROFIBER WATERLESS TOWELS

-- Adam's Turbo Stick Wheel Cleaning Tool ON SALE!-Standard

-- The Cookie Monster Buffing Towel V2.0 (for wax, polish, etc.) (Great towel but doesn't seem to be available through DD or Adam's)

Other Pre-selected Kit Options:
Via DD I found the Adam's Essentials Kit Complete Starter Detailing Kit - $199.99 which has most of the items i listed already.

On eShine, i see Griot's Garage Exterior Car Care Kit ($149.99 out of stock) and Griot's Garage Master Car Care Collection ($299.99)

P.S. Ill update this thread once i put the order in so that it might be useful for someone down the road.

Hello friends,

I have an '09 A4 and applied leatherique rejuvenator and prestine clean to my seats. It turned out amazing! I couldn't be happier...however, I applied it to my steering wheel and it appears that the black leather finish has been removed in a few areas. Anyone had experience with this? Anyone have a fix for this?? I appreciate the feedback.

Thank you,

Marks left by Nanoskin

I purchased a fine Nanoskin autoscrub pad from recently and finally got around to using it this...

I purchased a fine Nanoskin autoscrub pad from recently and finally got around to using it this weekend. Everything was going great until I noticed it seemed to be leaving some marks on the paint. They almost looked like very faint waterspots. I tried to take a couple of pictures but they didn't come out very well.

What I did:
I rinsed off the new pad before I went outside. I was using some DP clay lube that I had left from the previous season. I thought it was using a generous amount. The pad was broken in on my windshield (I did not notice any marks there). My PC was set at 1.5 and I was not really putting much pressure on it at all.

When I first noticed the marks, I went and grabbed my SONAX 3/6 and tried it on the hood. It seemed to get rid of the marks so I moved on. However, once the sun came out, I saw them again. At this point I was half done the car. It doesn't seem to be everywhere so I am wondering if it would be a lube issue or a pressure issue.

My question: Has anyone seen this before, and more importantly, what can I do to fix it!?

One thing of note: When I first took the pad out of the packaging, it was stuck to the packaging. Almost like that tacky stuff that you can hang posters with.

Thanks.

Steve
