so after i got the St coilovers installed. i got a clunk from the front right (passenger) side.
people on here suggested its the control arms. i took it to audi for an alignment and they said front arms are bad.
SO, i order a whole control arm kit with tie rods,ect..
just got the car back from the shop (audi specialist) and i still get clunking when cornering hard! im wasting too much cash on "guesses" and im running out of ideas as to
what the problem could be.

is there ANYTHING else that could be causing this? i want to get it resolved before i take the car back for another alignment.

highly appreciate anyones help!

I'm kinda wanting to put a boost gauge in my 03 allroad, I have no idea if its making the kind of boost it should be or not. I have no reason to believe its not, but I am just curious.

So i was thinking about just getting a CHEAP mechanical gauge and hooking it up and installing it in a random place for the time being. I'm not going to hurt anything by doing this am I?

Lowering springs VS. Coilovers ---HELP---

Ive had this question answered multiple times and everyone seems to say: Save up for coils. But,...

Ive had this question answered multiple times and everyone seems to say: Save up for coils. But, lets look at my situation for a quick second. I want to give my car a more aggressive stance but nothing too crazy, I live in the sticks of NH so the roads are pretty bad. I do a good amount of "spirited" driving and I certainly need a higher spring rate than the stock sport suspension gives me but I don't want to be bouncing like I'm on a little fishing boat in choppy water.

So I've decided on two things.

Either H&R Super sport springs or ST coilovers.

Now the PROs and CONs to buying the springs would be:

Cheap (for my limited budget)

Lower ride without touching rings

Not adjustable

And the pros and cons for the coilovers are the opposite of these.

So I seek advice from you guys, what should I do? I'm not impatient, I can wait and save up for coils but I just can't see spending upwards of $700 for adjust-ability that I wont use. I'm not going to the track or anything. But what (if any) consequences am I facing by putting lowering springs on Audi sport struts? Just any input that you have is appreciated. Thanks guys.

Hi there. i've been working on an Audi A6 I bought and am running into problems with the tranny.

I've pulled two codes with my Vag Com:

00300 transmission fluid temperature sensor
31-00 Open or short to ground

00268 Solenoid valve 6
30-00 Open or short to plus

I've switched the TCU with one that I know is good and it didn't help. It slams into gear when I put it into drive. Then it is stuck in 3rd gear. I'm not driving it until i get it done of course.

Does anyone know where a do it yourself guide is to replacing the sensor and solenoid? Or am I going in the wrong direction and about to do a bunch of work to no avail.

I've had a desire to run the A6 at pungo, several issues have always kept those desires at bay (the reliability of the trans being in question as the main one)

However, I still manage to try to toss the ole-girl down an off-ramp or two.

Generally, looking for opinions from anyone that's been through a few seasons in theirs. If you're a track-ster and owned the C5 long enough to gather a few impressions, that's fine too.

I have a couple of things worth mentioning;

The pedal has a 1-1.5" travel that's very mushy, which simply doesn't inspire confidence. I thought the system had air or was broken at first, but after driving a few other A6's it seems this is just how it is.

Steering feel is nearly non-existent, which isn't so bad in it's own right, but it also feels a bit loose or rubbery?

The chassis doesn't really feel like it wants to move, it's almost like you have a 1/2 second delay before any responding action takes place.

Understeer isn't as bad as I've seen in some other cars, It's pleasantly neutral until you start jack-hammering it through very sharp bends, but that's to be expected with 60% of the weight hanging over the front axles.

I'm wondering if these are just the realities of the car or if they can be tuned out through some relevant upgrades(or differently sized engines).

the parts on the car that might be causing this;
monroe replacement shocks, the tiny 280mm ATE brakes, the OE rubber insulated TRE's and an AHA in the front.

Hi everyone, I have a 2002 2.7T Allroad Tip that keeps over heating after about 20 minutes of driving and there is very little heat as well... I have changed and replaced timing belt, water pump, thermostat, accessory belt all the tensioners, fan controller, passenger side front fan, blue fan controller sensor and the Green coolant sensor filled it up with G13 coolant and started the bleed process
I have bled out the top 5mm coolant screw and am trying to bleed out the heater core bleed hole.

There are no codes being thrown in VAG COM

At idle nothing comes out the hole, as well nothing comes out at a constant 2500RPM the only way i can get coolant to come is reving the engine randomly above 3000 RPM

As well we tested the old thermostat and it was opening fine.

There is no coolant in the oil, and no oil in the expansion tank...I am at my wits end

Please helppppppp :-)

So my car has quite a few little dings and dents and I found a 2001 2.7t near me for a good price with no transmission that is the same color with no exterior flaws. How hard would it be to remove all the exterior paneling from the car with a good exterior and put it on mine? The panels I will definitely be removing will be trunk (self explanatory) front clip, hood, both front doors, both rear doors, and drivers side rear quarter panel, rear bumper. So basically all of them. Will this be as simple as unscrewing them and installing them or will there be welds that need breaking and re welding? The reason I am keeping my car instead of just switching the motor and tranny into the nice body is because the interior from the nice body is brown where as my interior is black. Any ideas or statements would be great. Thanks in advance

I had to replace the steering rack due to major leak.
Unit works fine, but WAY overboosted....

I had to replace the steering rack due to major leak.
Unit works fine, but WAY overboosted. Pulling the "605" (or "628") Servotronic does NOT change the steering force.
Plugging in known good other relay NO CHANGE.

I did NOT find a dedicated fuse for the Servotronic (to check if maybe fuse is blown).

Is it an electronic issue, or mechanical?

Since pulling the relay normally makes the steering HEAVIER, I would assume 'no power' would do the same (heavier).
No power form for example from blown fuse, bad connection/wire at the plug from rack to car, etc.

Could it be 'hydraulic' or 'mechanical'?

Does someone know how the powersteering works, and how it varies boost?

History:

When leak was first detected, attempted "Lukas" fluid leak fix (nothing to lose). Drained system, ran Lukas. Filled slowly. Seemed to help. But later hose popped off (I assume high viscosity Lukas overpressured the system). Later leak re-occurred (note to self: make use of total money back warranty from Lukas).

With new rack in, drained and flushed system, put Audi fluid in (Pentosin 11S, green stuff).

Could system (pump, valves, etc.) been compromised by Lukas?
Is there a 'pressure limit' valve in the system (that now does not work anymore and allows too high pressure resulting in 'light' steering and Servotronic no adjustment room?

Couldn't find one, so I bought a B5 S4 that I owned for almost a year until it was plowed into by a texter and totaled last year.
