Has anyone ordered ECS's license plate LEDs? They are supposed to be a direct swap but they were a little longer then the stock bulbs but still fit. I was having a hell of a time trying to make them sit right in the housings but all that would happen is they would turn off and on with any sort of vibration and flicker even when there was no vibration. Then all of the sudden, they just quit working completely. Now my stock bulbs don't work either yet the filaments are fine. Could something have shorted the wires? This wasn't supposed to be a 2.5 hr job [headbang]

These are the LEDs...

This a is a question mostly based on curiousity. I snagged another turbo the other day which would allow for such a setup to exist. For those that don't know you need a turbo with s split housing or a twin scroll (these are different, split has 2 turbine entries of the same size while a twin scroll uses 2 seperate sized turbine entries) so this will work. You need a manifold that allows all 4 exhaust pulses to enter into the turbine together which most are except a select few. Between the 2 you have a quick spool valve that blocks flow off to one of the turbine entires effectively cutting the AR in half.

Here is a picture of the split housing:

http://www.agpturbo.com/garrett-journal-bearing-gt3271/

Here is the quick spool valve:

http://www.suprastore.com/spquspva.html

The turbo I actually bought is the GT3271 that is listed and interestingly its turbine flow map is similiiar to the GT2871R with .64 while still being significantly larger. It has actually made over 400rwhp before and spools similiar to a GT2871R.

With its compressor flow I can't see it being an advantage over other turbos like GT2871R or a GT3071R. However the compressor can easily be upgraded to a GT3076R or 3088R in which I could see there being a use for the QSV in it. I have made a QSV for someone running T67 on B18C5 before and it increased spool by 700 RPM with gains of over 150 lb ft (though peak was near identical). However I know on some motors they don't seem to be worthwhile unless running huge turbos.

Has anyone seen this done or tried it?

so im debating a fwd auto to manual conversion on a 97 aeb. im trying to compile a parts list to see if its even worth while. multiple searches come ul with almost nothing. most threads have 1 to 3 useless replies with no information. I know the swap has been done before but for some reason when the question is asked, its like a big secret and is kept quiet. im hoping to gather some information on this topic.

anyone feel free to add to it and ill place it in the opening post for future reference for other forum members. so before you ask me why I want to do this, ill go ahead and clear it up for everyone. im only considering doing this because its a brilliant yellow a4, I always wanted one and everyone knows they arent exactly that easy to come by.

this is what I came up with so far:
manual fwd trans
shifter w/shift linkage
master cylinder
slave cylinder
hard line from master to slave
clutch/pp/flywheel
clutch pedal
some modification to the crank to make this work. but what for aeb?
trans mounts, but which ones?
not sure if the axles from auto/manual are the same? hopefully somebody will chime in
pull tcm
recode ecu/abs/gauge cluster
what has to be done for neutral safety switch?
dont really care or need reverse lights or cruise control. maybe ill get to that at a later time

Thanks in advance[wrench]

Hey guys and girls,

This may be a stupid question, but I was wondering if it was possible to swap an ecu from an '01 1.8TQM into an '00 1.8TQM? I know that the '01 is an awm and the '00 is an atw but was curious if it would still work. The reason I wanted to do this was to get the horsepower that an '01 has which I heard was 170 as opposed to the 150 of the '00.
Thanks[confused]

Choose from premium Motul Gear 300 or Red Line 75W90 High Performance gear oil. Install the new side seals in the kit to keep your fresh oil inside the diff. Then add an extra measure of protection with ECS Tuning magnetic drain plugs, designed to attract and hold ferrous debris before it can abrade close-tolerance gears.

Compared to the staggering costs of differential repair or replacement, this simple service procedure is a small investment.

So I have a clunk upon some accelerations and decelerations. It sounds like it's coming from the front end, not very loud but certainly noticable. At first I assumed it was maybe wheel bearings but also figured it might have to do with my axles. The inner boots are in need of replacement but just figured it would be faster, easier, although more expensive initially but maybe cheaper in the long run to just replace the whole axle unit of both sides with some new Raxles. I'm not getting any discernible auditory signs of wheel bearing failure like humming. I do notice a different sound when turning at low speeds but figured it had to do with the quattro system. I could be wrong with this since it's my first quattro but am not opposed to replacing the wheel bearings either. My other thought would be mounts, probably snub mount more specifically. Can anyone offer me more suggestions as to what could be causing this.

I've owned the car for about 6-8 months and have been really happy with my first Audi.

On and off for the past year or so I'he had a misfire, usually lasts 10 seconds and goes away. Just long enough to trip my CEL so my vagcom can tell me misfire on cylinder 3. It only ever did it after the car was warmed up and only if I was stuck at horrendously slow speeds in traffic for extended periods of time. Recently, however, it has been much much more persistent whether the car is cold or hot and now it's missing on multiple cylinders. Is there a way to check what I failing? I know of it was just one cylinder I can swap the could around and see if the misfire follows suit, but I don't remember if my vagcom tells me specific cylinders when it's more than one. Any help is much appreciated.
