Short posts are not my forte haha! This is my first new car and the first time that I've ever purchased aftermarket wheels (CX-R's) for one of my vehicles. It's getting way too warm for the winter tires so I need to get the summer tires on soon. I was looking in to security bolts and wheel locks and wasn't sure which was better or if it's a matter of preference. I'm also trying to figure out what length bolt I would need to use as the wheel's have a different offset than stock (not sure if that affects length) and I am not using spacers. Someone else on here mentioned they were using the wheel lock kit from ECS (PN 260952) for quite a few years and liked 'em. I saw some McGard SL security bolts that had a spinning head which I liked.

From searching through the forum I believe that the stock bolt is 14 X 1.5 X 28 ball seat. This means that the SL bolts wouldn't work as as they are an M12 X 1.5. When I purchased the wheels I was sent new lug bolts that are conical (don't appear to be ball anyway) to fit flush in the new wheel but I have no specs on them. They look to be about 27mm long (1 1/16" thread) with another ~2mm of smooth shaft before it begins the conical taper but a friend has some calipers so I can get an exact measurement. I believe stock bolts are 28mm from what I could gather digging around the forums.

The offset is 35mm, stock is 43mm. From what I gather no spacers or anything special is required other than the centering rings which were provided. Granted the stance will be slightly off which may cause a little extra wear and tear over time on some steering parts but shouldn't really affect handling. If anyone has personal experience over long term that says opposite I'm all ears though. I'm not a professional driver so I'm not going to notice very minor handling changes.

What size bolt would I need? Any opinions on bolts versus locks? Thanks.

Had wheel faces powdercoated two winters ago. Place did not torque the bolts back down sufficiently on one wheel, and last summer the face slightly separated from the barrel damaging the bolts and stripping some of the holes. [headbang]

Now is it possible to have the bolt holes re-drilled and have new bolts put in, or am I screwed.

Wheels are discontinued, so getting a new one isn't an option.

About 2 years ago, I purchased a set of 4 v710's in silver for my A4 (B7) directly from VMR. I recently mis-negotiated a curb and damaged one of the wheels, so I opted to purchase a replacement. When I purchased the new wheel, I specifically asked VMR if anything had changed since I had purchased my original ones and was assured that nothing had.

When the wheel arrived, I unpacked it and immediately noticed that the center cap was now black instead of silver. Although I had hoped to have a matching center cap, this wasn't that big of deal since I still had the original one from my curbed wheel. But I was wrong.

The new center cap is slightly too large to fit into the new wheels and the old center cap is loose and slides around in the new wheel. They are visibly different in size. When I contacted VMR, I was told that they should fit perfectly and if it didn't, "try wrapping some electrical tape around it to make it fit better". This is not an acceptable solution for me.

I'm mainly curious if anyone else has had a similar problem with VMR when ordering a replacement wheel. And if so, what would you recommend?

Thanks.

I just picked up a set of Avant Garde M510 20x10 ET25 for a 09 S5 and have a couple questions ...

Does anyone know what type of bolts I need? The OEM bolts look too short and it also looks like the M510s have a conical seat type whereas the OEM bolts are ball. That's just from me eyeballing it and I'm not even sure what length I need.

Also, does anyone know what the center cap size is? I found this thread that says 68mm overall and 63mm prongs but wanted to double check before ordering anything.

Any info would be great and if anyone has a link to where I could buy the bolts or center cap that'd be even better! [:)]

So I have a set of LM reps that are at the tire shop, they are 19/8.5 et 35 - 225 35 19 tires for frt. and 19/9.5 et 40 255 30 19 tires for rear. these are for a B6 a4. I was wonder if I need to install the coilovers at the proper ride height and then measure for spacers? I also need to purchase conical bolts and cant until I figure size of spacers(if needed). I have a set of 5mm on hand also. I am looking to push the wheels out as much as I can without hitting but concerned with the rear tire size being that wide. will I even need spacers? I have been searching for similar sized tire/ wheel pics but didn't find much. thanks in advance

As employees at an automotive performance shop, we have our fair share of wheels to pick from. We usually mull over the choices and, after many a long and hard thinking session, choose one to fit our our daily drivers. Our BMW specialist was the most recent participant in this little dance of wheel decisions for his 135i and he landed on a great wheel from this great company: The V705 by VMR Wheels.

Like the title says I'm looking for a set of nurburgring hyper silver or mirror 18x8.5 wheels or 19 depending on the weight and price difference. I love the vmr look but I need every pound I can get. So if anyone knows of a good sale please post a link or pm me.
Also I've been looking at the wheel threads and I notice most are running a et35 is that the best back spacing to run. I'm looking for them to tuck and not stick out on my 04 ultra sport.
Also I have looked for them with the et35 but can't seem to find them.
Thanks

Not looking for a hubcentric ring, but the opposite.

Hubs on the car are 66.6, and i want to put wheels on that have a 57.1 center bore. I figure if i can find a spacer that has the 66.6 bore on it, then the lip portion on the outside 57.1 id be set. Does such an adapter exist?

If not i will need to get the center bores enlarged on the wheels.

Hi- I'd like to find a set of 18" wheels for a 2011 S4 with a look similar to the WSP Italy W567 (touch of chrome, mostly gunmetal, not multi-spoke). Preferably forged too. I'd be using these wheels year round in the mid-Atlantic region.
Appreciated!
