why don't you go for a full system? Like Capristo, AWE track extreme, Akrapovic, HMS etc

Get the xpipe installed first then decide if you need non res downpipes. You can get those from AWE btw.

Could someone please explain what the advantage of this Xpipe for RS5? Is that section of our car that restrictive?

Basically, it's all for more noise, which gear heads like me consider to be better sounding. There is likely zero performance gain. The resonators tune the exhaust sound so that it's comfortable to your ears when cruising. Getting rid of resonators allow for more boom and drone. X-pipes allow for some drone cancellation but still gives more boom. I imagine this isn't something that most Audi buyers want so the factory mutes this sound with its resonators.

Thanks. I just want a little bit more noise but I do not want any drone and still need to be able to have it dead quiet when needed. How can we achieve this?

Even stock, it's not dead quiet. What you are asking for might be achieved with a V6 S5 but not with the V8 RS5.

I meant stock sports exhaust in comfort mode "quiet" [:)]

With my center resonator replaced with a cross pipe, there is no difference in comfort mode from stock. Only in dynamic and start up is there a difference.

Really?! I may do this instead of Capristo. Do you have any sound clips?

How much? Was it a custom xpipe or a universal xpipe?

I paid $180 as well for a universal Magnaflow xpipe installed.

The muffler shop welds it in place. Not much to look at. Just imagine instead of the center resonator, it's now a cross pipe in the location.

I may give you a shout next time I head up that way. I'd like to hear yours as I'm on the fence about getting louder.

Sure thing. I go to the Dallas Cars and Coffee pretty regularly too.

so my local exhaust store can do this cross pipe pretty easy. Sounds great and can be put back on the next owner like they did to my S5. What should this cost $150 with labor?

Sorry to revive an old thread but I have a friend interested in doing this mod. What size X-Pipe do we need to fit the RS5, I have an H-Pipe for my car and I'm pretty sure it was 2.5".

2.5" is correct
