View Full Version : 2009 A3 2.0T Turbo to Downpipe Question!

NOTE: I posted this in the "Forced Induction" forum too - not sure which is best place. I apologize for the rookie mistake.

Hello All,

New user - first post.

Just bought an '09 Audi A3 Quattro 2.0T. Has an APR Stage 1 chip on it, and came with Carbonio Intake and APR downpipe.

I'm having the downpipe installed today and I get a call from the shop saying that one of the bolts (top front) between Turbo and DP is snapped off.

They tried to remove it but could not. Said I'd have to remove the turbo and drill it out, or ride with only 3 of 4 bolts attached.

What should I do??

That seems awfully expensive - but I don't want a leak between the Turbo and DP obviously. Anybody else deal with this?

I recently installed my own APR downpipe (B8 TFSI). Getting to some of the turbo-to-pipe bolts is a little tricky. There are four of them. You do need them all to seal properly. Running with only 3 bolts must be a very short term fix.

Perhaps this is all OBE anyway, but I just wanted to add that I think these bolts are splined press fit in the turbo flange. They may be driven out or pressed out, not sure that drilling is the way to go with this since you would like to reinstall a new factory stud.

But you are going to need to pull the turbo to fix this.
