I have a 2006 Audi 2.0T automatic, and the RPM drops slightly and then rises back up when I am going around 40 mph. I have driven several other audi's that did the same thing and when I purchased the call the dealership said it was normal and was jus part of the transmission. It is more annoying than anything, I didn't know if there was a way to correct it.

i dunno, mehorg, this could be the cam follower for the fuel pump.

the cam shaft drives all the valves, but it also drives the mechanical fuel pump with another follower.
the rpms going up and down like that could be the follower just about to fail. when this happened to me, i had the same rpm fluctuation just before complete failure.

i'm really really new to the audi, so don't take my word for it. if you get others confirming, then i'd be concerned.

just my $.02

Love it when the dealer says it's normal and won't do anything about it.
