JHM launch control is awesome, gives me more time to concentrate on clutch movement (slipping/dumping) and throttle control. Will be making some more in car videos and some from outside soon. and i bogged this launch, but i've gotten better! for those that haven't used it before:
1. turn esp off
2. press clutch down all the way
3. floor gas pedal
4. release clutch

Nice, is this on an OEM clutch?

yep, and it's not slipping yet
nice, your car sounded mean when you used it leaving HWY 9 yesterday. :)

As intended by their tuning, I've found that just dumping the clutch and letting the launch assist feed in the throttle as programmed works excellently well for [on stock diff's] a very short 4-wheel burnout followed by holy cow. With an LSD out back there is essentially no wheelspin - just WOW.

i love the way you guys drive your cars, but do you think it contributes to the pre 100k catastrophic failures?? im at 80k and getting paranoid... sorry for the off topic
awesome launch, where was that? you guys mentioned 9, i just did 1 **> 84 **> skyline **> 92 sunday
cya out there!

I must have watched your video 20x. Great video great sound and for once the LA has made me a little jealous of the manual cars. Even tho the Automatics have there own LA your car really did pop out well.

Thanks for the comments guys. Yes I do have downpipes, they are trexturks 2.5".
The route was an exit off 237 E, don't remember which exit
I will be making more videos as soon as i find a camera/camcorder that can capture all the sound (including bass)

Nice video! Noticed some smoke at the top of 2nd. Is that the JHM tune running a bit rich to keep things cool at high rpm's?

how do you use the LA on a Tip? Just got the tune and haven't tried it out yet

Does the JHM tune automatically set you up with this launch control or is it something you have to ask for to be added to the tune on a six speed? And I haven't seen anyone with an answer yet to the above question about the risk of catastrophic failure etc at or near 100k on a completely stock clutch/drivetrain.

I am scared to do that with my car lol.
Love the video. You've got a mean sounding car. I'll be trying out the LA this weekend for the first time.
From what I understand taking off with JHM LA is actually easier on the drive train than a non JHM LA launch. Obviously, launching a car and running 1/4 miles stress your parts a little more but what the heck is the point of owning a fast car if you aren't going to run it every once and a while [drive]

The Launch Assist is easier on the clutch than an inexperienced driver launching the car because the lack of experience often means the driver slips the clutch too much, causing a lot more heat and wear to the clutch and flywheel.
And if running your sports car full throttle causes it to break, then something is very wrong. Plenty of other cars get beat on just as much as our S4's, and without problem. In my opinion, there has been overwhelming amounts of proof that it's a few design flaws that lead to the problems and not the way that the car is driven. I also believe that regular hard use (full throttle time/higher revs), at least once in a while, is important to engine longevity. It helps burn off gasoline-based impurities in your motor oil, helps keep injectors clean, helps keep carbon from building up in your combustion chamber and on your pistons and rings, and helps keep the valves clean as well. Lots of good comes from working the car out regularly. Even my old Lexus gets its share of full throttle action, mostly for above benefits (but sometimes because people are idiots and I'm impatient).

This ^ ... I currently have a JHM tune for my B7 and am unaware if launch assist is automatically active with it. Checked out the website and saw no information ... great vid by the way and clean launch. I'm sure the guy in the Vette was like wtf was that

^stop the car, mat the gas, and see if the RPM's catch around 5500. If they don't catch before 6k, you don't have it, if they do, then you do. (but remember always turn esp off first and don't slip the clutch at all!)
If your tune came out in the last year or year & half, you probably have it. If not, JHM will update your tune free, just ship them your board.

This 100%.
someone asked about a little smoke at upper RPM's. That is more then likely carbon getting cleaned out of the cylinders after a long pull. AS squiddy said low rpm driving over time can get amounts of carbon build up in the motor let alone the exhaust. A good blast every now and again will clearn that out.
