My boss just picked up an '02 Allroad and he said the suspension leveling system makes a bunch of noise when it adjusts. Is this common? Are there any ways to lock the system w/o vag-com?

Doesn't sound normal. You couldn't even tell when mine was adjusting.
As far as locking the system, I think you press and hold the up and down buttons at the same time for a couple seconds, but this is for servicing, ie changing a tire and it should not be driven that way. That should be in the manual.

I have a 01 Allroad and have a suspension noise as well. Sounds like it only comes from my left front fender. Seems to have started after they replaced a cv boot. I'd like to know what it is too.
To keep suspension in one position you just hold the suspension button either up or down for a sec. It will switch to manual.
