My 14 year old has been getting into classic rock lately. He's always liked the punk/pop thing (and metallica), but lately he's been having me pick up cd's like led zeppelin and queen and jimi hendrix.
i think it's healthy that he's taking an interest in the quality of music instead of just who's hot right now.

he's got one. we also have a drum kit and my guitar and amp.
so far, the only with even a mild interest in playing is the middle kid, who's 11. he plays drums.
i'm trying to create a partridge family in my basement.

sweet youve got your own Hanson! haha
Its cool he's into Hendrix and Led Zepellin but Queen? I went through a classic rock stage in H.S too. Buy him some Pink Floyd
It's great to see kids interested in music. It's great to encourage that.
I'd highly recomend getting him some Velvet Underground (Loaded or White Light/White Heat)
I'd also recomend Ramones or The Clash. All three of those are great bands with great albums that I'd concider classic rock but are unquestionable punk.
I also like Cream (Or anything Clapton, like Derrek and the Dominoes, but Ginger Baker is great too)

a lot of those he already has in my collection (ramones, clash, t rex, etc).
and early queen (up through day at the races) is great. queen II is one of my favorite records of all time.
i also just picked up sweet desolation boulevard. there are some great songs on that cd besides ballroom blitz.

Ive heard that too. MTV did a "report" on that years ago. I may try that some day.
My g/fs roommate bought Wizard of Oz because of the rumor that you can see a prop guy that hung himself in the background of one of the shots. They didnt see him though.

i did it. it's pretty cool. the song changes coincide with major scene changes.

its all rumors, supposedly start the cd when the MGM lion roars, but the reps for Pink Floyd said they never even thought about that before, although it does coincide at times, mostly its a waste of time.

the only upside i can think about being the sneakiest little druggie ever is that fact that my kids will not be able to get away with anything.

i think as kids / people grow older, they'll be exposed to classic rock and hear how damn good it was. i just posted on it actually (fav songs). I didn't really hear it until I was in my early 20's, but now I love it. (I grew up listening to neil diamond, kenny rogers + willie nelson, and that was the GOOD stuff).

my friend did that too, and said it was pretty crazy how it worked out. I need to get both and do that some day. maybe on my oh-so-fun flight to or from austria next week, I'll run it.
