Ok so I have 16 LEDs with built in resistors rated for 12V and draw 80mA.
Have been constantly having issues with them blowing, most likely due to spiking in the system when the car is on.
Running 16 @ 80mA is 1280mA or 1.28 amps.
I've been told that its the voltage that is causing these to blow, since when the car is on it jumps to over 13.
I've also been told that its the amps that is causing it, and should put a 2amp fuse inline. From my understanding, what if the source is giving 4 amps, won't that just continually keep blowing the fuse?
So I guess where I'm getting at here is, is there a voltage/amp regulator available? Or some other method of fixing this problem? Thanks.
